They added some nice choices for int and power. Xaro's ability is ok and certainly helps mitigate the cost of MoD and CoG. Pyat is great, I love Pyat. This deck has outstanding draw in most games and Isle of Ravens works excellently allowing you to cycle events like Drac and Fire and Blood back in. In one game in tournament being able to do that was a life saver. |
How often was Mother of Dragons useful? (if at all?) Isle of Ravens seems very good in a deck like this. That card I shall try for sure. |
I actually find it quite useful in testing as well as in the tournament. I really like the ability and being able to get Dany out with even with one dragon is worth it but I rarely only have one out. |
And yes Isle of Ravens is definitely my new favorite card for Targ |
why 2 Xaro, you only have 3 unique attachments? |
For the dupe mainly. |
And I was running Beggar King which I took out but have since put back in. |
What did you take out to put Beggar King back in? Did you have any trouble with Valar or heavt reset decks? One of the few decks I have seen recently that runs 2x copies of so many different characters. Usually feels like 3x or 1x of any unique character to prevent dead draws. |
I removed one funeral pyre and one D's favor, and added back in 2 B Kings. In conjunction with this change I changed Time of Plenty to a Building Orders. This deck seems to recover fairly well against Valar. Resets like Varys and First Snow are a little bit more problematic. That being said this deck has surprisingly good draw and in games against Lanni Rains, Stark, and Grejoy I have had a great deal of success. The work horses of the deck are without a doubt Dany, the dragons, Valar, Drac, Isle of Ravens and Jhogo. The other characters are there for support and are fairly expendable. I have won games because characters like Khal Drogo or Mirri came through at a pivotal moment but more often than not the aforementioned workhorses have already won the game before Khal or Mirri show up. Pyat adds a nice draw mechanic that can be useful but by no means crucial. Xaro adds a nice little cost reductions but he may come out at some point in favor of something else. All in all I think this is by far my favorite Targ deck that I have ever built and it does not hurt that it won me my first store championship, with a first round bye for regionals! |
How does the deck do against winter/night watch decks? It seems pretty painful to have to rely on summer harvest for the gold. Why did you choose to not run any kingsroad? |
Wow! How did Xaro Xhoan Daxos and Pyat Pree perform?
