This is the deck I used to win Dance of Dragons yesterday, the largest North American regional tournament. Play the good cards + play well = win. Play tears of lys, play three of them, every, single, time. I saw even very good players playing absolutely unplayable trash, and yet no one played tears of lys against me the entire day. If you can find room for garbage like isle of ravens, close call and heads on spikes, surely you can make room for a card that is the best kill spell in the game and on the very short list for best card in the game. Or don't, and I'll keep murdering people with 3x Gregor Cleganes. I suppose the choice is yours.

Well, a lot of people are not playing Tears because it only kills Gregor in the Lannister matchup. It's great in Lanni, Targ, and Stark attrition decks right now, but far from an obvious auto-include. |
That said, congrats on the win. |
Congratulations to your win. I like the inclusion of three tears. Besides from your deck: Can you explain why you think that Close Call and especially heads on spikes is garbage? |
You can kneel hound with filthy and poison him after or poison reducer and burned man to apply pressure for marched after mill claim.. |
thanks for the congrats guys, as to keldozad's comment yes you can also treachery the hounds reaction and tears him in the mirror, or kill a burned man/merchant to setup a great marched to the wall, but the mirror isn't super prevalent right now, in fact I didn't play another lannister deck at all yesterday and NY is sort of a lannister hotbed usually.

sorry the explanation was |
Aha, so you did have 1x Put and a 1x Varys after all ;). Nice playing - sorry I didn't put up more of a fight. Love the 3x Gregor, still underrated. |
And for the record I was going to play Tears, until I realized that you need to win an intrigue challenge first. |
hahaha |
Congrats. Solid deck and solid showing. Two questions: 1. Did anyone play duel against you/ do you take any certain line of play if you expect duel? And 2. Did you consider ilyn payne at all, as he had decent value in targ and nw matchups which are common these days? |
I did consider Ilyn, but the problem is he's not even good vs targ. While he eats a lot of their dudes, he doesnt do anything in the challenge phase. If I can afford to spend 6 gold on someone who doesnt help me in the challenge phase against targ, i've likely already won the game. That being said he's great against NW. Ultimately I went with the more consistant powerful threats. |
what was your most common usage for The Eyrie? pre-Valar (either seeing it coming from your opponent or knowing you were going to play it), using it on their claim soak or using it on your own guys at the start of challenges? |
Why no queen cersei in this? |
You're a wizard Harry. |
|
@jm2215 You decided to run 0 Rattleshirt's Raiders. Given that you can easily push the military challenge, I guess that you must really despise the card. I am myself on the edge of cutting it, therefore I would be very interested in your opinion on this card. |
|
I switched out Confiscation and Marched for Heads on Spikes and Close Call, and to compensate for no Confiscation I've swapped 1 each of Tywin and Tyrion for 2x Rattleshirt Raiders. I think the deck's probably better now. |
Yep for homeplay really good call |
|
|
What trash of a deck . I could beat this with a Dothraki deck with zero intrigue icons. Shows what sorry state the NY meta is in. |
Close call is everything but garbage |
|
It's not trash, but given that there's only 7 plots (12 if you play Rains), I want to play only the very best plots - and Close Call is not one of the very best plots. Why A Game of Thrones as your 5th Rains plot? How often does it come into play? |
|
Just won a Brisbane pre-regional mini event with this. It's a great deck! |
|
Is there a primer available explaining the strategy and how to play this deck? I'm somewhat of a new player. From a novice perspective this looks like an aggro deck that tries to force through intrigue challenges. |

Joe, what do you think of Fever Dreams? |
How essential is Valar to this deck? |
What do you think about bannering Kraken for location control and iron mines? |
Loooooooool
