Development: Any deck that states it can wreck the world is something I'm always going to look at (See inspiration). I had been trying to do a weird "The Rains of Castamere" power rush deck and it just didn't connect. After scrubbing out in Madison I realized that I had to lean much more heavily on triggering the agenda to make even worth while. I altered the deck a ton to add intrigue icons (Appointed itself doesn't really do it no matter how good you think your draw mechanics are). On a hunch I saw the idea of "The Last of the Giants" theory and thought that running it with Greyjoys massive amount of power rush and saves that it could do some damage. After getting a week of playtesting with The Knights of the Corn (gratuitious shout out)I found out that the deck controls most of the board sweeps. Iron Mines don't work against Varys. It's about dupes and bodyguards. I really wanted to squeeze in either Nightmares or The Hand's Judgment. I have to give out shout out to Shives. If you are running an aggro deck it's important to keep the pressure on your opponent, there is no room for situational wins. This is why I still think Put to the Sword is something to slide in this build.

Tournament: Went 4-1 in the regular playing field. The first of two losses I had was getting Naval Superiority and then The First Snow of Winter, good deck, I was completely caught off guard. I had no chance in that game. Final loss during the top 4 was to 7 character Hyper Viper. I had done some playtesting against it and knew the only chance I was winning by turn 3. That for sure didn't happen. For the rest of the they wins were certainly tight at times, you have to take your time because you have answers to lots of characters and no one expects a surprise dude out of Greyjoy. The hardest learning experience for me was making sure I was setting up characters that could trigger rains vs Asha Greyjoy and Victarion Greyjoy. The better setup includes either The Reader or Priest of the Drowned God.

Key cards: "The Last of the Giants" took close games into breathing room to help develop your own board state for 2 gold. Rains flipping Varys's Riddle into their Counting Coppers was fantastic all day. I hard played Jaqen H'ghar twice, something that I was not expecting to do, it changed the way the game was being played and was shocked when someone did that same against me; he drops a lot pressure when the game state seems even.

Changes I would make are: plots +1 Late Summer Feast due to being able to Rains out of it (hate giving my opponent any advantage with cards or gold), -1 A Noble Cause. I'm still super curious about The Red Wedding in here but I feel it would be more detrimental than good times. Characters: -1 Balon Greyjoy (CtA), +1 Euron Crow's Eye (I know, seems obvious), -1 Varys, +1 Jaqen or Mance Rayder (it's another intrigue icon to trigger Rains).

I hope this write up helps folks and good gaming!

Nice deck! I was your round 5 opponent with the Lanni Rains. I must say you piloted your deck masterfully, well done on the top 4 finish.

Congratulations on your top four finish. I was your round 4 opponent with the Greyjoy Crossing deck. It was good talking GJ shop after the game. I was mostly just happy to hear that Hyper Viper deck didn't win. :p
