Hello guys,

I would like to thank to organisers of the event. It was perfect as always.

This deck I used in Prague Regional with 73 players and ended up in top16 on 13th place. It could have certainly ranked higher, but it would need better pilot. Also, my first published deck, which is somewhat good and not a pile of junk. More importantly, it was created on ThronesDB to check for legality. Seriously, if I do it without it, I tend to create unintentionally illegal decks using Agendas/Cards combination that cannot be used, because reading is overrated sometimes. And actually quiete a few guys on the tournament told me as a joke if I have a legal deck, but deckcheck said I am good. Thank you ThronesDB. Apparently my Agenda fails are starting to be legendary. :D

Idea of the deck was to discard through unopposed via The Reader and pillage from opponents deck for Corpse Lake and King of Salt and Rock and using Tris Botley to limit a bit what opponent can play. As a good agenda to this purpose is Grensight, which can both mill a character and/or something you do not like or you like opponent to have, simply controlling what he draws or you draw for that matter.

The order of plots is simple, opening with Late Summer Feast, followed by A Noble Cause and for 3rd plot You Win or You Die to win initiative and press for claim 2 military, probably intrigue too and grab two powers, one of which should be unopposed, opponents generally do not come back due to its claim since they have kneeled chars for defending. After that whatever is needed as a plot.

My short term memory is bad, especially when it comes to names, but I will write what I remember. At the same time, AGOT as a game is great for memory training due to its mechanincs you have to pay attention to!

This paragraph I am writing as last, it turned out its quiete lenghty report. Sorry for that and hopefufully you will enjoy. :-)

Round 1 vs. GJ Wars ???

My opponent was a little kid that really knows how to play, I knew that since I started last year playing the game. So I have chosen to mulligen a pretty good hand, but it lacked saves, something I value a lot against GJ and him to be honest. I had pretty much everything after first round. I think both Reader and little Theon were duped along with good econ and Corpse Lake and some jumpblocker with big guy I think it was Euron. He did not see econ or more dupes for the game, but had Euron, Asha (???) and Balon and something. My Theon with Reader was doing mayhem, I milled both remaining Balons along with other chars and what not. However, I do not remember much from thigs game at all tbh, but I remember Corpse Lake having 7 power and me feeling lucky and sorry at the same time as I had pretty much everything and he had just the basics without dupes and I suspect without saves too. After this round I just said to myself I can now loose everything else. A win against him is worth the day. Well, my friend there just could not believe I have an actual win and neither could I.

Round 2 vs. Tyrell The Lord of the Crossing

I did not have a bad start and neither did my opponent. I do not remember openings, but I do remember opponent having 3 power on The Honeywine and 4 power on chars before challenges on plot 3. I planned to go next round first with Weapons at the Door and even out board str and a bit power presence. I did count everything correctly him missing 3 power after dominance that I would loose, but after my attack opponent saying, well I can now seal the game I started to wonder what is going on. It turned out, I did not checked his fraction card for some reason and cough cough there was 4 power right there in front of my eyes. A loss against deck I could have won if I would not have been blind. Anyway, whatever, I had my 1 win and was satisfied, expecting 1-5 during the day and go home taking a sleep, since I was sleeping just 1 and half hour the night before, but that is not an excuse for such mistake.

Round 3 vs. GJ Wars

Oh my, here we go again, a mirror. Nope, it was Drowned God dominance. Albeit not a bad start with Kinged little Theon, I did of course got my We Do Not Sow discarded to intrigue, because you just have 1 in 6 chance it happens right? and could not delay his dominance win streak. The game went with me having less power and just 1 econ draw the whole game, but my Euron took 1x Roseroad and 2x Iron Mines that I milled with King Theon. I was milling as much as I could and the game went to time limit. We did end up with equal 12??? power as King Theon got 6 or 7 power himself through his Crown. Then it was card count. Well, what to say, pillaging/milling opponents deck did its trick, winning by 17 cards or so. Yay, what a win, although modified.

Round 4 vs. Targ Wars

I think we had even starts, duped Plaza and after first plot duped Flea Bottom along with duped ??? Dany. I had a setup without Corpse Lake I think, but with Theon, Reader and Tris Botley and Kinged Victarion. I did just see Reader as intrigue char, if I remember correctly, but he died along the way somewhere to something, I assume it was during Blood of the Dragon via Dany and Dragon Is No Slave. Anyway, I think played on plot 2??? You Win or You Die against Blood of the Dragon if i remember correctly, killed off her characters, but not dupe off Dany, she burned Reader and I grabed 1 power from her fraction card. I guessed right that she had Qotho in hand and blocked military. However, she returned Dragon Is No Slave to hand via intrigue Dany 1 gold left. On plot 3 I played A Noble Cause and marshalled Balon. Pillaging was doing great and after plot 2 or 3 I milled all 3 Second Sons, which is exactly what you want to see with duped Flea on the table. :-/ However, I also milled both Dracarys and Consuming Flames and succesfuly removed them via Tris Botley. That was good, but later Dany said that Targaryens are not slaves and Tris was forced to agree. It was on plot 4 that I played Counting Coppers into Trade Routes and went first. I had at that time on table King Victarion with 4 power, Balon with 2, Theon, Aeron and Silence Crew and like 3 power on fraction card. Before challanges she had 4 gold and I had no intrigue. She played bunch of characters including one of the dragons and had 4 cards in hand, 2 of which I knew were Dragon Is No Slave. With Plaza on table, I feared a lot of Dracarys. She got to 4 power (not sure on that), well, I did make a math and via Sir Jonah Mormont she could win if I screw up my attack. We were already pass time limit before challenges, so there was no pressure for fast decisions, although crowd that gathered around the table was quiete stressful for me, I hate when that happens. Finally, I have chosen to go for power claim with Theon, Aeron and Silence. She blocked with Dany and flead Second Sons, burning Aeron with Dany and Dragon is No Slave. I saw a little light that the only way now is Dracarys and some 0 cost targ event since with a standing dragon it was a good bet. I was deciding like 5 minutes whether to go for the military or not, apparently witnesses testified I was speaking out loud about that, which I thought I was talking just in my head to myself. In the end I have chosen to go with Balon for military and as first action I gave him +1, making him 6 safely out of Dracarys/Dany combo. However, there was still the other card in hand. Well thinking of it and writing it now, I did not have to fear anything as I let her draw Fire and Blood via Greensight since there was no unique character in graveyard, which I totally forgot at that time. I guess lack of sleep started to take its toll, but subconsciousness knew all the time. Later, my friend also told me I had the worst draw he saw me ever draw with GJ. I won on power 8 to 5 if I remember correctly. Well, what a game, another time limit, but this time my opponent gave me win instead of modified. Thank you for that and if you reading this, apologies for prolonging the game more than neccessary.

Round 5 vs. Targ Wars

Really ? Again ? Well, setup was what I feared the most, duped Khal and some other char Missandei ???. On my side Theon, Reader and something. First plot, we both opened with Late Summer Feast and he made me go first after flip coin win. I do only remember I marshalled duped Euron and Shipwright and maybe some location. He had no econ, but got a dragon, Plaza and Crowned my duped Reader. In challenges, he burned burned my Euron with Dracarys and Consuming Flames and had duped Missandei on the table. Great first round, in which intrugue discarded either Risen or We Do Not Sow or maybe it wasnt this time ? I dont know anymore. Regardless, I think I did put Shipwright into military claim, keeping Theon. Then its a bit blurry what plots were done turn 2 and 3, it is all mixed. Anyway, I do remember that he marshalled Second Sons with bestow 2 and me masrshalled Victarion. I did press for military challenge with claim 2 with strength 7 with blocking Second Sons and Khal Drogo, who Payed the Iron Price and was Crowned leading to claim Second Sons and Missandei dupe. I also did manage I think plot 2 to tell my GJs that We Should Sow his Plaza only so that he marshalls another one later along with Astapor with 4 bestow. However, for the whole game, he did not have econ since my occasional pillage and Greensight did mill it. I did, however, managed to rebuild board presence with duped Victarion, Stony Shore Raider with bestow 2 that moved to new home in the great location of Astapor and some saves. On following I guess plot 4, for the second time I saw in any of my hands and first as well as last time marshalled Asha, which did search 17 cards to find Balon only for my opponent to concede with my increasing board presence and power lead. I was lucky there a bit in the end my opponent draw did not yield any answer. Therefore, I can dedicate this win to Grensight econ mill and Paying the Iron Price.

Round 6 vs. GJ Wars

By this time I had a chance to go to top 16 in case I would win, which scared me as hell. My 4th or 5th mulligen, not sure. This time I saw again after plot 1 marshalling phase dupes on King Theon and Reader along with Corpse Lake, Iron Mines, some econ and some other chars I do not really remember which ones only to find out its Drowned God dominance again with Nagga's Ribs, Iron Mines??? and Driftwood Cudgel. This time however, it was much tougher and maybe lucky on plot 1, that I do not know. In challanges I went with unopposed military Theon, Reader milled 2 characters that were placed into graveyard via Nagga's Ribs and The Hand's Judment, but opponent forgot to draw card for Late Summer Feast, which I had no obligation for him to draw, albeit it was already in unopposed Reader triggered. However, I was about to use We Do Not Sow and we somewhat did not know order of the cards that were milled as he had 1 gold and that Sow could have been canceled via The Hand's Judment, if it would have been the first on top. So upon some decision making, we decided that he draws a card and I can use uncancelled Sow. At first I wanted to destroy Nagga's Ribs, which then I changed to Driftwood Cudgel as potential Valar Morghulis would secure easy win for dominance in case of populated drowned gods. I was a bit lucky that I draw on plot 2 Isle of Ravens and could shuffle Sow back into the deck, which proved to be cruicial in the end as another one got discarded right away. My opponent did play Jade Sea Dromond and decided to destroy my Black Wind instead of Corpse Lake. Drowned gods were doing their thing and I think on plot 3 albeit I tried hard with You Win or You Die, my opponent got to 14 power with some char strenght math counting on my part, being able to block and steal 2 power from his fraction card and discard 2 cards. Lucky for me, his Aeron had no dupe and rest was non-unique, if I remember correctly. I do believe that I followed with my Valar Morghulis to clear table of drowned gods with I think 7 power in total, saved my chars via dupes only to draw 3rd Iron Mines. I think I milled another Driftwood Cudgel that turn, which was cool considering I had no claim. Not sure if it was plot 4 or 5, but he marshalled Tarle along with Nagga's Ribs, Old Wyk and started to repopulate his board. Then I used Coppers to find Sow and 3x Tris Botley !!! and was first player, I did mill along the way somewhere Kill the Dronwed God. Then my opponent did action, not sure what it was, during his marshalling only for me to trigger my mind that it might be a really good idea to actually use Tris on his Kill the Dronwed God. So I did and it basically won me the game, my Sow killed his Ribs, then reshuffle Sow back into deck via Isle of Ravens only to draw another Sow on next plot, discarding the Old Wyk. My Tris did remove Ribs and it was just a matter of time before I would win, 3x Iron Mines on the table with duped Tris and 2x milled The Iron Throne was the killer allowing me to get another win.

Everybody that know how "great" player I am, could not believe it that I made it to top 16. And neither could I for that matter. I guess some solar flares or something ??? :-D So after 6 rounds (4 wins, 1 modified win and 1 loss) I was rank 9 with rank 8 being my next opponent and rank 10 Tyrell Crossing I lost to.

Top 16 vs. Diomedes and his Tyrell The Lord of the Crossing

Since Diomedes posted his deck already, I will write this game from my point of view and what I remember from it. This was fun to watch, frustrating to play against and only little chance for me to win against this crossing with my deck now that I know his decklist. If only I would have done it differently, but then again, I would have to understand what can there be for plots. There were 4 surprises for me and 2 were killer. Anyway, another mulligen that brought a decent hand against tyrell crossing. I do remember I marshalled Theon, Wex Pyke and Reader. Plots were Late Summer Feast against his Time of Plenty. He had after marshalling Paxter, Littlefinger, Elinor, Margie, Highgarden Courtier, Tom(1st surprise) and chud. To play it all he used Bounty of Highgarden and used TIBWHID on Blue Bard to get 2x "The Bear and the Maiden Fair" and used "Off To Gulltown" for military he got that way. I did mill 2x Last of the Guants and this convinced me he has it for Littlefinger, Jaqen, Tom and maybe Mag and uses lot of songs for Tom to untap limited military chars, presumably with Randyll and Knight of Flowers. Seeing his decklist now, I was partially right about that as well as I was expecting The Hand's Judment to protect his events, but could not have been more wrong. When I saw the board, I was undecided whether I should go for as 2nd plot Valar Morghulis or A Noble Cause since I had Euron with dupe in hand that could bring me milled Arbor and very low probability of Last of the Giants in challenges. Decision was hard, althought not as hard now, when I got my sleep. Ultimately decided to go for A Noble Cause as I expected some military char on his side marshalled and my 3rd turn Valar would be more satisfying as I could play duped Euron, block unopposed, let him grab possible renown and dominance and start to push after my Valar with him being close to win, but not there yet up to and including I had Iron Mines and 2x Risen in hand saving my chars on Valar. Well, I could not have been more mistaken. His 2nd plot The Withering Cold (2nd suprise) pretty much decided my fate. My opponent went first. During this plot he duped Littlefinger (3rd suprise) and marshalled the military icon, well it was Jaqen with Oathkeeper, not really the military icon I was looking for, as Wex, Theon and Reader got Jaqens love tokens. Thanksfully, I did draw Strangler for the first and best time I could. I quickly returned Jaqen the favor and Strangled him to keep him at bay. Then came challenges. His intrigue with Renly's Ride without Renly discarded Risen and kneeled Reader. Through Margie and Courtier he untaped his Littlefinger then came power challenge and for whatever reason, I had a massive brain fart and thought Renly's Ride is just for the challenge and did not block with Euron, which led to him being kneeled and me no chance of getting Arbor. Anyway, he used "BAMF" on himself and me, I followed by shuffling discarded Risen via Isle of Ravens leading to cancelation what "BAMF" left for me on top. Now I had no choice, but to Valar, knowing that Euron and Theon are the only ones going to survive and his Littlefinger. He put Annals (4th suprise since new restricted list of cards) against my Valar, well at that point as I was knelt and got just 2 gold, my only hope was a draw and pray he will not be able to use crossing to its fullest potential. The moment he marshalled Randyll, I knew I am finished as he could push for up to 8 power. Turned out the unblocked power from plot 2 was his 15th power. I do not think I could have won in the long run even if I would survive this round. But as it proved in previous games. With milling, you just never know. On the other hand, such a great out of the box tyrell crossing deck deserved to go forward to top 8. Kudos for creating it Diomedes.

And conclusion ? I loved playing against you guys on the tournament, often a chit-chat during the games. Two things turned out. First, You Win or You Die is devastating plot if used right. Second, the only two decks I lost to, were the ones that got to the finals. That is not that bad.

Phew, that could make it for a book. If you read this down to the end, kudos to you. I hope you were not bored from such a loooooooong article, turned out I kind of liked writing it. ^^

EDIT1&2: Incorrect card links in description. Should be ok now.

Great report, it was fun to read! :)

Just 2 little comments on your Top 16 game:

I was lucky you didn't have Tris Botley in the first rounds, he can really thwart my plans.

Alianka 24

@DiomedesThank you.

On the subject of the plot 2, the more I think about it, the more I am conviced I had Iron Mines, Market, Corpse Lake/Black Wind and 1x Iron Fleet Scout (about 80% convinced I had it), which would bring Euron to STR 7 in block. Because I had Reader with Risen victim to intimidate intrigue with STR 11 via Elinor, Paxter and Littlefinger + Renly's Ride, which I blocked with Wex. After that I had Theon and Euron standing for military and power challenge and Jaqen could not go through alone, but that is the case if I am right and really had the Iron Fleet Scout. But nevertheless, better deck and pilot won, which is how it should be. Btw, against tyrell crossing, I would not keep Tris Botley as key card in opening hand, unless the rest would be what I need, which is basically just Theon for unopposed power challenge for early plots,

Anyway, Tom of Sevenstreams is THE BEAST. When I saw what you can do with him, you gave me idea how to modify my theory bloodrider dothraki 3x-5x challenges with claim 3/4 per turn deck with him. The stand up is what I was lacking there.

Diomedes 3294

You wanted to block the first challenge with Wex first, but then you chose to use the Reader with STR 6 (Risen and Iron Fleet Scout), so I could only intimidate Theon, not Euron.

That Dothraki deck sounds like so much fun. :-D

Alianka 24

Ah, thats how it was, well, bad memory, sorry for arguing.

As for the Dothraki, atm, the tinkering is now with Wars and Plot (10) 1x Counting Coppers 2x Early Frost 2x Famine 1x The Long Winter 1x Trade Routes 1x Trading with the Pentoshi 1x Valar Dohaeris 1x Valar Morghulis

It is using a lot of jumping from hand, discard and deck. So suprise attacks after going second with big claim to grab up to 4 power in power challenge and if lucky twice that challenge. But there is long way to go to finish that. I will sooner finish my NW that marshalls from opponent discard, which I would like to take for some small local tournament. Nobody will know how to play against it, especially considering that deck wants opponent to win dominance. :D Seven FTW.
