Last year I bubbled out of every regionals with a Lannister Kraken good stuff deck which I thought was pretty good. After that I decided this year I would play the meta proven deck.

After being off on holiday for a couple of weeks and the release of the second chapter I felt the meta had shifted slightly, with Qohor winning a few regionals, and wasn't sure what to expect. So I made the most generic good stuff Tyrell deck I could. I was the only Tyrell in the field in the end, just going to show how broken they are

I took the deck to a GNK of 15 players and went 4-0 on the Thursday before. I was running 2 Heads on Spikesand a Winter Festival in the plot deck but swapped out these for Nothing Burns Like The Coldand Wardens of the South for more versitility. the other changes I made were to cut Littlefinger, who I kept drawing and never marshalled, and cut 2 "Lord Renly's Ride" for 2 Milk of the Poppy.

Most cards in the deck are pretty self explanatory. But I'll talk about a couple of things. Blessed by the Maidenwas an include to counter the rise of Trading With Qohorwhich seems to be running a few negative attachments, it lots of games it was a dead draw but really helped in others. On the same note Milk of the Poppywas MVP in so many games, especially with all the Stark Wyman Manderlydecks. I opened Trading with the Pentoshievery game and it was always the right choice, everyone appears to be opening Time of Plenty at the moment and Trading wins that exchange imo, 1 more gold and winning initiative, 5 reserve is tough though in this deck. Heads on Spikeswas also great, clinched me half my games. Scheming Septonis a card Wamma didn't have access to for Euros but it is nuts, with Oldtownand Renly Baratheon (FFH) (as you know your top card will be loyal) it never clogs up your deck. It also gives you a card to Marshall every turn for high tower. I don't think I ever used the shadows ability on the card but it can help with Mace. Also great with breaking ties.

Will talk about the highlights below but the deck can win through challenges or Mace and usually a mixture. Play defensively and let your engine just out build your opponent. Attacking their hand early is key to this strategy and a False Spring is a card I would consider. It just felt every game that victory was inevitable as long as I could delay my opponent long enough.

Game 1 Vs Bara Faith militant: We both opened trading, I won initiative and let him go first. He marshalled The High Sparrow amd I face palmed. What followed was a slow grindy game but this deck I feel just wins in the end. After I milked Sparrow it was GG.

Game 2 Vs Greyjoy Wars: This was a tight game but Heads on Spikes Asha sealed it for me.

Game 3 Vs Stark Rains: Another tough game but this deck is hard to stop once it gets going. Tyrell can beat Stark rains on the intrigue if you set up and a milk on Manderly and hitting all 3 of my nightmares finished the game.

Game 4 Vs Stark Lion: Was a very killy deck with a Bolton flayer on set up. I just played conservatively knowing he was not going to out rush me and weathered the storm and waited for the late game inevitably of the deck to kick in.

Game 5 Vs Stark Rains: Slightly different build to the previous one. My opponent managed to get some great rains triggers off early killing Rental with Red Wedding and equalising the board with wildfire. But like always the deck just gets to a point where you get 10 gold and draw 5-6 cards a turn. Had to close this one out with Mace with Crown of golden roses on a King in the North turn. The King in the North basically shuts down stark ironically and you can easily close on that turn.

Cut game 1 Vs GJ wars from Game 2: Euron stole my Hightower and then I got Valar Morghulis turn two which set me back. I played this game badly. I played Nothing Burns instead of Breaking Ties when he had Victarion out and trashed my own fleabottom and that's about it. My opponent played King in the North that turn and I thought I was out. A double nightmares got me out of it and I closed that turn with renown bodies. It's on video, hopefully my confusion at my plot is apparent. Final turn he declares a challenge before pre-challenges so that's why there is a little take back.

Cut Game 2 Vs Bara Qohor: Another tough game but I saw randal early with left and right and my two growing strongs. Hand pressure early was also key. I misplayed this game, I should have put out Randal without a dupe to bait my opponent into playing out their hand the Valar D'd which would have closed the game for me. Unfortunately, after my opponent wildfires I just went to the spam out all my big dudes game plan and we just had to grind it out but Tyrell just have more big dudes and draw than Bara. A nightmares and then a milk on Bob settled the game, after 15 minutes of me doing power challenge maths.

Final Vs Stark Rains: Alex O'fee-worth from game 3 and a meta mate. He drew fuck all and I drew everything, it was a pretty one sided game. Alex was gracious in defeat and he really just got card screwed more than anything.

Thanks everyone for great games and a great tournament. Martin always puts on great events and if you can make them it is well worth your time.

Thank you for the shout out Matt. Congrats to the Keys meta for for once again performing very well at our shop, and congrats on your own fantastic performance. It may be Tyrell, but you still have to have the stamina to go the distance ;)

Thank you for sharing the list. I will no doubt see you at an event soon (Blackwater Melee) but happy to announce the Next Battles at Summerhall will be held at Aldershot's The Games Shop on 27th October. The event will now be floating around on FB somewhere.

Congrats on a clean run. What do you open against Martell? Spikes?

Blessed by Maiden is an interesting tech, isn't the biggest problem Seized by Guard on Hightower, not milk on any of the chars though?

Martell aren't playing Naval anymore really, they've moved away from grindy attrition to late game dorans, so probably still trading.

Usually the deck is okay without hightower, you have rebly, old town and butterbumps, oh that's a variation in the list from this one, -1 old town informer +1 butterbumps, whoops. Seized is such a tempo hit for your opponent it's usually okay, and you can always play nothing burns if you really need to. But yes it is an issue that I'm not sure how to solve easily.

I like this deck really much and I think it would be my deck for Nats. Thank you for sharing.
