I used this deck to win the Art of War Store Championship in Cincinnati, Ohio on January 17, 2006.
Deck is pretty standard Baratheon kneel. I treat the King’s Hunting Party as an Iron Throne with some teeth. Three copies of The Hand’s Judgment is real saucy. It is such a blowout after you play one because your opponent may rightfully believe you have 0 or 1 left.
I’m not under the impression that I would trade a 4 card set up with 3 characters and a location for a chance to mulligan to get a Melisandre in hand. I know some people think that’s crazy talk, but if you can start jumping on your opponent’s throat, then you should take a chance to do so.
I might drop a Milk of the Poppy for a Put to the Sword because of the insane military totals you have with King’s Hunting Party, Stannis Baratheon, and Robert Baratheon.
None of my games had any crazy details. My opponents were:
Game 1: Steve from Indiana (?) - Targ/Lannister Game 2: Chris Thompson from Indy - Targ Fealty Game 3: Jon Herr from Cincinnati-area - Targ/Stark Game 4: Mike from Cincinnati-area - Lannister/No Agenda
Nothing to wild to report from my games as they all went the same. I got Melisandre out early, found ways to protect her, knelt my opponent’s good cards, and got to 15 power through assorted ways.
Thoughest game was against Chris Thompson. II think I got rid of a Dracarys! with Seen In Flames and cancelled the other two with The Hand’s Judgment. I’m 100% sure I would not have won the event with a timely The Hand’s Judgment in each of my games.

“I used this deck to win the Art of War Store Championship in Cincinnati, Ohio on January 17, 2006.” Why should we be interested in a 10-year old deck? ;) |
King of Cleveland! Damn your 3 Hand’s Judgements! |
Congrats on the win and thanks for sharing. My list looks similar to yours. I have 1 less Hunting Party, Stannis, Hand’s Judgment and Ours is the Fury. 1 more Milk, Consolidation, Seal, and Tears. |
Nice catch, |
This is almost the same as my build that I did well with some weeks ago. Running HJ in Bara seems to be important, you, me and other players who have done well all ran the card despite the neutral restrictions for Fealty. That says something about the importance of the card I think. Our lists are 2 cards different, I ran a second Milk over the third HJ and ran a third consolidation. |
Did you get any use out of Roberts Warhammer? |
Moving forward with new cards, King Robert’s Warhammer may not stay in the deck, but it will depend on how the other decks advance. |
I ran almost the same exact deck recently and I really like King Robert’s Warhammer. It always does what it’s supposed to do once it hits the board. |
From the new CP it’s pretty obvious that Royal Entourage is a straight upgrade to Vanguard Lancer. Is this a straight port do you think, 3-in-and-3-out? I assume that’s what most will do but I admittedly haven’t put a ton of thought into it yet. |

Yep, I am he. |

@America Right. The concern is that without Melisandre in play kneeling important characters you’re a bit forced to go out of your way to not lose intrigue challenges. With Mel in play I don’t really foresee it being an issue, even with a Little Bird on a big character like Robert Baratheon or Stannis Baratheon you’re likely safely. That said, in those scenarios you probably don’t even need efficient characters like Entourage. Anyway, I think Vanguard Lancer is terrible and just always look for ways to cut it. |
