Just finished playing the final of a 16 people Winter Kit tournament, and I am very happy on how the deck did. I post this because this does not seem a concept that has been bandied about much, and I am a bit surprised... it is the first thing I thought after seen The Boneway. Ok, the second after I realized it is loyal :(

As usual (for me) this is a deck coming from me wanting to play Night's Watch and finding a better way to defend the wall out of banner, and I was fairly bored of Bara/Watch frankly. It has the common strengths of the NW deck, namely that your weenies are as good as their best characters as long as they can oppose, but with much better economy and the unparalleled ability of Martell to soft-control a small board. Card draw is terrible and you can get intrigue'd out but half of the time the stuff on the board does the job anyway.

Greyjoy is very hard, harder than with a pure NW deck (I went undefeated but by the winner Greyjoy's Fealty deck)... but anything else is much much easier, and many decks will just not be able to effectively do Intrigue at all against it which simplifies keeping The Wall up. 2 Wildfires keep things cozy for the Martell uniques to do the most damage.

Only immediate change I am thinking of is taking the Hand's and put Confinement. It is a coin toss, I do not care terribly about my opponent's events but Burmination!. I put Hand's to protect my UUUs but it never seems to be there for that. (Used to have Doran's Plan there which provides a nice finisher but... never manage to get enough force for it!)

well the idea looks a lot like the one i made in my deck: thronesdb.com but your deck runs diffrent than mine. what is the reason for not plaing @kingsroad?

Oh yeah, similar enough... hardly surprising the same kernel (The Wall + Boneway) bring a similar deck out considering the size of the card pool, but I think they play different and economy is one of the main discrepancies.

First and foremost, I just did not have the room! I would have to take locations out, most likely (I might be able to cannibalize those Hand's for this I guess, but I would be wary of taking the number of 'tricks' down), and I think I need them. Ghaston Grey is a fantastic deterrent and mainly there as as renown meta as the deck lets the opponent do a lot of what they want (just no unopposed) so a fast renown will defeat it 8 times out of 10. And The Iron Throne will net you at least one or two power a game (which would go instead to your opponent, so count double) which help quite a bit.

Now, I could use the gold indeed, but the truth of the matter is I want a small board (easier to control but also limits my loses to my own Wildfire Assault!) so buying 2 cheap dudes or one expensive one a turn or so is ok most of the time. So I do not really, really need them is my point. I must admit however econ is more fragile and any hand that does not have one of the 6 Limited cards needs to be Mulligan'd regardless of how tempting it is in my experience.

Another big factor is you are not running Arianne Martell. She is a econ card in this deck: start the turn with 3 guys, playing Arianne lets you use 5 guys' worth and still end with a small board for Wildfire. Another good use is set her out and not use her, so next turn you can play The Wall for all your gold but still 'marshal' a big guy. Plus all the tricks she enables out of bouncing like bringing an unstealthable body after they assign attackers or bringing a Benjen in the middle of a Military challenge when you are at 10+ power (Benjen + Wall + Dominance = surpise win!)

Hmm... this went much longer than I thought. Anyway, hope it answers your question ;)
