Deck I won with at the Minnesota Regional. Needs Milk of the Poppy and would probably cut the Stinking Drunks for it.

Congrats on the win. Why so many Vanguard Lancers? Have you tried an extra Gendry or Davos instead? Was 3x Even-Handed Justice worth the slots? Thanks!

Also have you tried Rattleshirt's Raiders to free up the Confiscation slot?

AtotheJ 223

I ran so many Vanguard Lancers to try and slow down the game because I found that it'll take about 2-3 turns to set up the lock. They're also really good claim soak. With that said I would cut 1 for another Gendry.

Even-Handed Justice has been superb. Once you got Stannis in play along with the Dominance package, you want to see all the kneel you can. In those turns, dropping more characters isn't that necessary and I opted to save gold for the events instead.

Rattleshirt Raiders is an interesting thought but I don't think I would take Confiscation anyways. I think of it as my third kneel plot because Seal of the Hand is everywhere.

Congrats on the win AJ. Glad to see you're not keeping with your tradition of 2nd place finishes in major tournaments like you did playing L5R for years.

I personally love Vanguard Lancer in Bara right now. They can really punish a player for flipping First Snow of Winter during plot phase.

Looks rock solid! Stinking Drunk seems too reactive when compared to Even Handed, Consolidation, or Filthy Accusations. Does Support of the People contribute anything or can you get along without it?

AtotheJ 223

Hah! That was only for a couple of years. I took my own advice to play better and so I did. Now I can actually win things!

AtotheJ 223

@Kain8 Your correct about Stinking Drunk, they should have been Milk of the Poppy instead.

I thought about support of the people but it ended up being cut due to space.

Did you come up against any Stark? That deck seems to be a pain especially when Robb and Grey Wind get out.

AtotheJ 223

I actually played against 4 stark decks. 3 during Swiss where I only lost to 1 and 1in the finals. The one I lost to got out a duped Robb, Jon snow, and a Greywind, so there was no beating that. The key is to lockdown Greywind with your kneel. During the finals, my opponent had both Robb and Greywind turn 1 and I did just that

Thanks - that'll be useful to bear in mind.

Other questions regarding your event package - did you miss Hands Judgment at all? And why did you take Consolidation over Ours is the Fury and In the Name of your King?

AtotheJ 223

I like Consolidation of Power more because it helps control my opponents board especially when Stannis is in play. I also run a lot of claim fodder that In the name of your King shouldn't matter and Ours is the Fury would be harder to pull off.

Tbh, I never felt like I really needed Hands Judgement in this deck. Seen in Flames took care of problem cards, and if they used their own Hands Judgement on that, it was fine because I still get a kneel with it, which is what I want out of it most anyways.

I was considering ITNOYK for Targ/Lion or Lannister match up, but all things considered, I guess the main threat should be knelt with your strategy anyway.

I'm reluctant to give up the Hands Judgment primarily because of the threat of Tears. Seen in Flames goes some way to preventing that, I guess dupes takes care of the rest!

Congratulations on your win and thanks for your feedback!

I played against you in the first round of the cut at this tournament, and just got all of my big cards one round behind you. The biggest issue for me, though, was that you had every kneel event in the game in your deck. I've since swapped back over to Bara Fealty (Banner of the Kraken was a whim) and even after getting my ass handed to me like that, I still can't bring myself to put that many events in my deck. I've found room for 2x ITNOYK which I find really, really powerful, especially against Greyjoy, Lannister and Targ, and effectively works like an event that kneels 2-3 of their characters and flips the whole challenge phase on its head, especially if you're still getting set up, which is when Targ and Greyjoy tend to hit me the hardest, in the first couple of turns. And I've also found room for Nightmares (instead of Milk of the Poppy) which I have found so powerful against Greyjoy and Lannister (my two biggest threats, I guess). Being able to turn off the Seastone chair round one, when you don't have enough chumps to block everything, or being able to turn off Tyrion, after they've spent all of their gold. I've had multiple people complain to me that they had a PTTS or a Trial by Combat that they ultimately couldn't play because I turned off Tyrion as a surprise.

I'm definitely not criticizing your deck, because it really works for you, just sharing some of my experiences. Nightmares and ITNOYK. plus 2x support of the people, really make my deck feel a lot more consistent.

Plus there's not really a turn where you can't trigger Support of the People, and I often find myself pulling the Red Keep even if it's in my hand, because paying 1 gold for it, and dropping it in the middle of the challenge phase, keeps me from having to find 3 gold to put it on the board.

Anyways, it was a great match, and I hope I get a rematch next saturday!
