Congrats on the win! Have you tried Tourney Grounds, Put to the Sword, or Things I Do for Love?

Widowmaker93 1

Congrats Broncos! good looking deck sir. Very similar to the one I put together a couple weeks ago.

mnBroncos 536

@scantrell24In my deck that I played in MN that should have made cut with had one tourney grounds. It just was never needed and bad top deck late game. Put to the Sword is good but only want so many 2 cost events and wouldn't dare remove a Vengeance the card is just so important in this deck. I was strongly considering playing one or two the night before just couldn't find a cut for it that I liked. Never tried Things I Do for Love. I don't think it is great in lannister and even worse in Martell.

Changes would make with new pack out is go down to just one Caleotte (isn't key and first snow+ward in meta makes him worse) cut the Gold Cloaks and put in 2 Tyene. Plot deck is perfect right now. Only plot would consider changing is the Calling the Banners but need something to come back if happen to get behind on board and that lets me flood board or get Jamie or now Tyene into play.

Is this the basic long plan opening into counting coppers ? Are Palace spearman that relevant ?

Congrat's for the win

NikolaP 61

This looks really good, congrats on the win!

I'm guessing you're always trying to go second, that's why 3xPalace spearman (and because The First Snow)? Do you think this deck is stronger than Martell Fealty and why?

Cheers!

mnBroncos 536

@AvelfaltaziActually it is usually Long Plan into First Snow. This deck in my opinion is the best First snow deck possible and that is also why Palace Spearman is so important. I don't care about winning the game fast I just care about controlling the board and winning challenges and a 4 cost tricon with 4 strength is great value in this deck.

@NikolaPMuch better than Martell Fealty. In fealty you need to play Viper, Doran, maybe Doran's Game deck is completely different. Tyene will help fealty but I like having access to Tryion, Jamie, The Hound (who is actually a beast in this deck), as well as having the Burned Men for First Snow.

@scantrell24NOTICE THE INCLUSION AND PURPOSE OF PALACE SPEARMEN.

Sincerely,

Thoughts on replacing a Palace Spearman with a single rattleshirt raiders for some additional attachment control? Or is that just overkill on the attachment hate? I'm loving this deck just a bit concerned with ppl running trip milk and what would happen if i can't remove it from Tyene / Nymeria.

mnBroncos 536

@Tromsicle that is an option could consider it wouldn't be a bad change. I'd probably cut a knight of the Sun before a palace spearman though.

Nice deck and good tournament!

What do you think about Heads on Spikes as a first plot?

Xanshi 13

Do you any plans on adding Tyene Sand in the deck?

mnBroncos 536

@XanshiMy changes I would try is cut the gold clock and one of the Maester Caleotte for 2 Tyene and try that at first. I also want to add one Illyn but adding 3 6-cost characters could change the deck to much.

@ironlixHeads on Spikes isn't a bad plot in this deck I thought about it for awhile but not sure what I would take out, probably calling the banners but since adding in more 6 cost characters probably need to keep that. However, I wouldn't use it first plot it is better in Martell later in game after bounced a strong character with Ghaston.

Xanshi 13

@mnBroncosWe got True Steel yesterday. Well someone did play Martell/Lion deck with Tyene and Ilyn. From what i observe, i felt Ilyn is much better fit than Jaime. Granted Jaime can push the win with Pseudo renown. The direct kill of Ilyn stalled opponents more. Here's what Ilyn victimize yesterday.

Dragons, Jorah, Bran, Sansa, Arya, Aemon, Sam, Halder, Caleotte, Obara, Edric, Pycelle, Hound.

imabunneh 361

@XanshiHow does Ilyn kill Jorah or The Hound?

imabunneh 361

@Xanshi never mind I thought he said strength

@mnBroncosLooks great! I have built a Martell Lion deck myself which is a much higher cost curve deck than this one. To pay for all the expensive characters I run Trading with the Pentoshi instead of The Long Plan. Any thoughts on why you're cutting Ser Gregor Clegane? And what I find very interesting about your deck is that you're not running any attachments. Did you not feel the need to use those?

earcarax 1

Mainly the icon stripping attachments. But even Widow's Wail can be a great inclusion I found.

mnBroncos 536

@earcaraxI do not like the Mountain in this deck at all because you need to run a plot just for him, I think Trading with the Pentoshi is the worse plot you could play in my version of the deck. I keep my opponent down to under 4 characters at all times I do not want them to get extra money. Also Mountain would be the only good target to tears in my deck. Also just puts a target on him that none of my other characters have. If you deal with any of my characters its annoying but not game changing. If I commit to 7 gold for Mountain and he is just kept in check all game I put myself behind.

I feel attachments should be you either play a good amount or none. Every deck is playing Confiscation so if you just play a Widow's Wail than its just a plus 2 str for one turn maybe 2. For the same reason I don't like the icon stripping attachments you can't just play one or two and have them be effective if you play the icon stripping attachments you have to play 4+ along with 3 milks and that changes my deck to much.

@mnBroncos: wich is the plan agains Stark??? Winterfell and Cat (wothout nymeria) can completely negate all the triggers in INT chall, so no tears, no tyene, no direct kill. How do you handle that match-up?

mnBroncos 536

@xikitinsSo couple things with Stark matchup. It isn't our best matchup but it is far from worse too. With Nymeria and Tyrion (stealth) can often get around Cat. Winterfell is tougher but I also think if your only way to win is by triggering tears and now Tyene then your deck is sub-optimal anyways. Stark usually is very bad against first snow of winter right now so that is another advantage we have by getting them down to few characters and marching what they have left. This list also has a strong military presence so can often stop them from triggering Ice or Put to the Sword. Winterfell is annoying but if they stop us from using tears than we use Vengeance. I've won many games without ever using a tears. Yes they are great especially against Stark but not only way to way. Also most Stark decks only run x2 Winterfell and they have to take a tempo hit to play it.

boogielup 1

Nice deck, I play it nearly 6/7 game and lost only one. I love the way it control the board, and can get out of a lot of situation. Main issue I have is if I play against a lot of attachment, so I think of adding a 2nd Confiscation instead of Calling the Banners maybe. As we have 2 reset plot there is really really not often more than 3/4 character on my opponent table. Or as already said, add 1 or 2 Rattleshirt's Raiders

Also, what do you think of remove 2or3 char and add 2or3 Attainted ? It will help the tear of lys thing, prevent of losing too many int challenge, and maybe help nymeria to still something else.

xikitins 53

Tried the deck and it like me a lot. But have problems vs Stark. Cat + Bran don't let me to do any tricks: no vengance, no tears, neither gasthon grey. Very difficult to keep the board low on char. Also he played duped Jory on Fisrt Snow turn. And Finally, milk on Nymeria, close the game for stark player. I really don't see how this deck beats Stark with all the "anti trick" cards they have.

BillyDooku 110

Congrats @mnBroncos on the Regional win! I played Martell/Lion last week and found it is one of the best deck to abuse The First Snow of Winter.

I included Naval Superiority in the plot deck to lock the game when First Snow goes as planned and they try to rebuild. It worked great.

Thoughts?

mnBroncos 536

@boogielupNow that Martell has Tyene I'd maybe play x2 Attainted. Hard to say though seems to comboish to me.

@xikitinsjust because they have two good cards against us doesn't mean we can't win. We have tricks for every single challenge and they can only prevent one. It sucks that they have those counters but it far from unwinnable.

@BillyDookuI almost always followed up first snow of winter with March to the wall that is why didn't include naval superiority. I also wanted to be almost guaranteed to be able to play Arianne with all my plots so didn't want two 2 gold plots. However, I did strongly consider it the night before I do think it is a good plot to play.

BillyDooku 110

@mnBroncos Agreed on not running two 2 gold plots. I did not miss Counting Coppers because the economy is tight and you can usually only play one big character a turn.

And when you get Arianne, I feel like you just replay her every turn and use her tricks. What a great card.

RoflRoy 22

@mnBroncos Hey, I build a very similar list to this one here, but I was going to use The Red Viper over Ser Jaime Lannister: tricon + more power over Jaime's abilities. Where do you see the difference and pros and cons? I run a A Noble Cause and even without it doesn't look like too be too hard to get him out. Really looking forward to your reply!

mnBroncos 536

@RoflRoyWell few things. 1) if you replace Jaime what lannister cards are you using in his place because still need 12, Lanni cards. 2) My deck is about getting multiple uses out of my characters. Arianne is basically used in two challenges because get to put in another character, while Jaime is able to be in multiple challenges as well its about being efficient. My deck doesn't care about getting power fast at all so the upside of Viper isn't worth it over Jamie because the floor for Jaime is so much higher than Vipers. 3) I don't want to run Noble Cause it is an average plot that many decks need to play their big 7 cost guy and I don't want to have to run that plot if don't need to, and if you play the Viper you do need to play it just for him.

RoflRoy 22

@mnBroncos Thanks! Well, so far I run 3 Tyrion, 3 Hound, 3 Burned Men and the other slots I am kinda experimenting with: Tickler, Reducer, Gold Cloaks, ... It feels like I can get Viper out as easily as Jaime (3 Scav and 3 Orange). If I go second, Jaime isnt that useful anymore and he is much more likely to be useless against Nymeria Sand or Imprisoned. Also, if I think about sanctioned games or practice with time limits: it happens that I run out of time with still being behind in power, even tough I have control. Or I just cannot close the game. I totally agree about Nobel though...

omgitsblake 189

@RoflRoy run ilyn, he's better for going second.

Valddan 1

@mnBroncos Hi, I've been playing this deck with great success! It's a very, very consistent deck and I just love the play style of it.

One question, how do you feel about Attained? Do you think there is room for it? I've been thinking of trying it for a while, but I'm not certain of what to remove.

I've already removed x2 Jammie, x1Gold Cloaks e x1 Maester for x2 Tirene, x2 Ilyn Payne.
