Growing Stag
New version of my Baratheon/Tyrell deck, now that I’ve had some more experience.
Your main strategy will be to get one of your three heavy hitters- Robert Baratheon, The Knight of Flowers, or Randyll Tarly - and begin working on gaining a lead through renown.
Margaery Tyrell and Heartsbane are your main method of overpowering for Tyrell: either by standing Randyll for multiple attacks, or making a powerful solitary attack with Loras. Lightbringer on Robert allows him to make multiple challenges, kneeling multiple characters with renown to open up unopposed or easily won challenges.
The deck’s biggest weakness is stealth: Ser Davos Seaworth is your only defense against stealth, so you will most likely be using your kneeling abilities to target stealth characters.
I chose Lightbringer over Ours is the Fury, because while I like the event, it has proved to be tricky to use; I often found myself short the two gold or waiting for a better moment. Lightbringer does the same when on Robert, and has the R’Hollor trait, making useful for Melisandre. Plus, if Robert dies (or you draw him late), you can always play it on Stannis Baratheon, giving you a fourth source of renown.
I also chose to run two copies of Shireen Baratheon over Bastard in Hiding. I like the Bastards, and losing out on the Is unfortunate, but I think the chance at setting up Shireen or drawing into her early is worth a shot. If you don’t set up any early , you have Calm Over Westeros to protect you for a turn.
