Well, there are quite a few firsts for me here. This is the first deck I've posted on here so I'm wondering how it will be received.

It was also my first tournament. I've been playing for roughly three months now, trying out several decks and finding several to my liking. As soon as I decided to go to nationals I began to test more seriously. Apart from bara-fealty and this deck, I tried my hand at martell-rose, but found it a bit to skill intensive to use.

I decided to use this deck as it has a decent matchup against most of the field and I really liked the cards the kraken banner added to the mix. I won't go into detail about every card in the deck, but I'll highlight some key players.

Robert Baratheon was my beatstick of choice for the day. He never fails me, but is a prime target for milk, craven and the likes.

I run a nice rhlor package to play the kneel game. One card stands out though: Selyse Baratheon. I'm a bit light on int icons, so she serves as tears protection.

I've debated for quite a while if I should include Ser Barristan Selmy (TS) but both renown and the ability to save mel, bob, selyse and asha won me over.

I added 2 Lordsport Shipwright and 1 Newly-Made Lord to combat the locations I dreaded facing like ghaston grey, the white tree and opposing red keeps. To be honest, they weren't as impactfull as I'd have liked so maybe I'll replace them with something else in my next build.

One more star to mention is Maester Cressen. He keeps bob milk free when needed and was always nice to see.

The locations are standard fare, but I might experiment with some of the greyjoy warships in the future.

Events were difficult for me and I've switched the around a lot. I liked the [Nightmares] (/card/02099) better then hand's judgment. The even handed judgment pulled their weight, but are pretty expensive. I felt I could have done with a couple put to the sword at times.

The plots I was pretty happy with. I'm thinking of changing out the close call with Here to Serve or Summons. In some matches I missed some key characters and a tutor effect would be helpfull.

Round 1 vs greyjoy crossing. (Win) I managed a strong first turn leaving only a duped balon on the board which I promptly marched next turn. I kept the pressure up, so he couldn't use crossing most of the time. I think we finished on plot 4.

Round 2 vs bara-kraken (win)

I got bob out in turn 1 with mel and a faithfull. He had trouble finding his big characters. I saw he was running a dom package with iron throne and decided to use my seen in flames to get rid of his location that let him steal a power from me on dom. We played tightly, both waiting to trigger wildfire at a good time. After my wildfire I was left with asha, duped bob and mel and closed the game out.

Round 3 vs night watch -wolf (loss)

I next faced jamie bamfield with his watch deck an just wasn't prepared dor the shenanigans. I got cravend, yorren'd and qarded left an right and when I thought I had stabilised with asha, he hits me with a second marched to the walls. After that it was over quickly.

Round 4 lanni dragon (loss)

I had a pretty nice start but was teared and mountained in turn 1 and couldn't really recover.

At this point I thought there was no chance to make the cut so no pressure for my last round.

Round 5 vs stark crossing (win)

This was a slugfest. I felt in control with stealth and bob's intimidate but he had some nice things on the board as well. A well timed wildfire gave me the advantage I needed and slowly but surely I ground out the match. Just in time as well as time was called during our last turn.

3-2. Nothing to be ashamed about I thought. When I headed upstairs to here tge standings I was pleasantly surprised I managed to sneak into the cut at 8th place. One downside was having to face my round 3 opponent again.

What happened was a supremely frustrating experience of veing outplayed at every stage of the match. Hats off to jamie for being a gracious opponent and a great player. Too bad his deck stumbled in the finals.

Congrats on making the top 8. I ran a very similar list at UK nationals, although I must ask whether having no roseroads was an active choice or an error in posting the decklist? o.o
