Here is the last version of the deck I have been playing the last months. I used the choke tematic for reaching the 1st place in the Spanish National championship, for doing a really bad performance in Worlds, and for winning the Dorne Tournament in Seville (around 70 players) this weekend in the last pre-valar tournament with this list.

I won't extend too much in the explanation of the deck as right now it is out of the meta. So if someone want anys explanation (I know there are several odd choices which are usually autoinclude in most NW decks) just ask for them. Anyway, the important question is if this kind of deck will run that smoothly and that violent (haha) as it has been doing it until now with valar, a question for which I don't have an answer now...

Maybe I ll stop travelling with the desperate rangers and making my opponents to starve for a while, or maybe not... let's see if the sworn brothers fear the valar...

Thanks to all the opponents I faced in these three tournaments, and for all the support!! see you all in the tables!

Why did you run 2x Riddle? What were you generally hoping to hit, and how well did those work?

What? Varys's Riddle has an effect? haha. The wonderful thing about this plot are their numbers. In the first versions of the deck I just played it because of the ini and reserve, which allowed me to play a first turn Varys without losing so many cards for the reserve penalty. But, what if you catch a Summer Harvest accidentaly? oh, well, a Calm over Westeros to protect your hand of int claim when you are going to reset the table... Trading with the pentoshi? Ok spend all your 13 gold pls... and that only at the first turn. The plot is a really game changer when you draw Varys in later turns and it catches accidentally a counting coppers, a summons, a building orders, a heads on spikes against other winter deck...

So, I used to run 1 as an autoinclude. For this tournament thougth, I feel the deck was losing surprising factors and ways of reaching its condition victory (choke or reset the board) as cards like Time of Plenty really hurts the deck too much when you open with the typical Wraiths. I wanted more chances for recover matchs that you are loosing, and more surprising mechanics... This way, having 2 Varys's Riddle, I'm still having two high iniciative plots for being second and play Varys ( which it is mandatory) but now is not just a possibility but very common to really catch a counting coopers, a summons, or... the best one... a marched to the wall which win alone the semifinal making Tyrion and Tywin to wait my brothers at the Wall when they return.

Also, I think 2x Varys's Riddle is the counter for valar-GJ decks, so I wanted to test how it would work in the plotline.

I am curious as to what happened in the Worlds. Why the bad performance?

Adkadi 323

Bad calls, 3 Lannister and Tywin setups. In that order of importance.

@AdkadiYou get to Varys's Riddle a Summer Harvest or Trading, but you don't get the gold value, only the when revealed ability. Also, If you riddle a Trading, they get the 3 gold as well with no real benefit to you. That's why it's a riddle ;)
I've never played NW, but this seems like a fun list.

`@alajone Of course!! With summer harvest you dont get gold at all but you choke your opponent if you go first! What I meant with Trading is that if you want to play Varys first turn after your opponent maarshalling you don t really care about the worst and unique drawback of this plot, which is in fact, to catch a Trading ( a very common opening in the prevalar meta).

@AdkadiAhh, I see.

@AdkadiHi! very interesting deck! A few question : why craven in this kind of deck? not that I find it odd (that's the opposite) but I would like to know your intentions behind it.

Also, how would you add Quorin Halhand here? is craster a good idea to withstand valar in this deck?

I was thinking of adding the frostfangs to be more effective in breaking the opponent reserve.

Adkadi 323

@NormandwizardMaybe too late for answer this question, but I'll do it. I usually didn't run Craven for this deck, but in the days before this tournamente I found out Stark only needed to play Ice and save it for Varys to not give me any chance of a comeback. The attachment is very versatil, and when Winter is coming, the boards are small and every challenge matters, the attachment is very useful in many situations, specially with FSOW.

Frostfangs are for a different deck, maybe more focused on hand choke instead of table, I found it very intersting in "night gathers" deck. But I think in this build they have no place.

About Qhorin, you can check my "Batalla" deck to see how I included it in the deck. Craster is actually a good idea, this deck can suffer a lot with valar, but is not so easy tu play and it cost too much for what it gives to your board position. If you fear the valar, Aemon is a better solution eventually, at least for my way of playing, maybe others could use Craster successfully.
