This is the deck I took the final SC of 2016 with at Wayland Games, Essex on New Year's Eve. I haven't taken my champ card for a spin since it was released so figure it was about time I saw what all the fuss was about.

I lost one game in Swiss to Jack Abbot thanks in equal parts to not seeing the Wall and getting absolutely rekt by First Snow of Winter.

I dont think anyone really needs a comprehensive breakdown of how to pay the deck. At this point, NW decks are a known quantity and individual card choices beyond the staples are a matter of personal preference. That being said I can offer the following few insights. Bare in mind all that follows purely relates to defence style decks!

Haunted Forest and Shadow Tower Mason are absolutely stellar cards. I can't see any reason not to take three of each until they rotate out.

In conjunction with the above, Will becomes a relevant card choice again. He did solid work all day.

I didn't intend to run Watchers on the Walls, but made the snap decision to run two on the morning of the tournament. This card won me the final when it took out Tywin and stripped dupes off my opponents board. Complete game changer. Run it.

I will likely experiment without practice blade in the future. or, at least try one of each blade and new dagger.

I'm contemplating dropping a Benjen for a Craster.

Thats about it. As I already suggested, this doesn't reinvent the wheel in anyway, but I will happily answer any questions people might have.

Congrats!

I didn't get so lucky. In a SC last week, i was doing quite well against GJ Fealty deck until he pulled out The First Snow of Winter of course...

This seems to be a weakness The Wall deck can't address now.

Why fealty, not king of winter or sth else?

I run an almost identicall list with great success in my local playgroop. Congrats on the win! I will probably cut Sweet Donnel Hill for Craster since he doesnt do enough without the Practice Blade. Never left home without 2x The Watcher on the Walls never regreted having it on my hand, considering adding a third copy for consistency. I run 2x Benjen Stark at the moment but i seriously thinking adding the thind copy back in because wildfiring him for the win never gets old. Finally Dolorous Edd and Nightmares are too good to be at 1x but that is personal choice as you said.

Winter also reduces your own reserve and you only have one winter plot in a wall defense deck, so you won't get the ability anyway. Plus there are a couple of good summer plots you want in wall defense (calm, time of plenty, etc).

Has anyone ever won without finding The Wall? I came close very once going to the 9th plot but i lost 11-15.
