Dippy 157

Hello this Deck is built to take advantage of the defensive card's nights watch offers. Many people are building nights watch around jon snow at the moment and while he's definetely a strong card he doesn't help you defending those challenges to get the power from the wall.

General Strategy:

The Basic Idea is to get one big guy out (Mormont or Eddard) and put a #Little Bird on him. A Tricon who can defend any challenge is a force your opponent has to control. To make a strong deck around this plan, we need to succeed in two things:

  • 1) We need to get to the point where we have our big dude, little bird on him and the wall. AND we have to keep the board state at least even until that.
  • 2) We need answer's to the control options our opponent will throw to our win condition.

Specific card choices Corncernig 1) and 2):

  • 1) To get into the position where we can spend all our gold on Eddard or momont and ideally already having The Wall out, cards with low cost and high quality are vital. Especially those giving us card/board advantage. We have Arya who comes with stealth and free dupe, Aemon who mitigates 1 military claim on his own, castle black which can win us two challenges we wouldn't win without it and possibly Taking the Black, even if I often can't make good use of it and have it just as a 1-off for this reason. Add The efficiency of Tumblestone Knights and Ranging Party and you got a strong backbone to work with. Wildfire Assoult and Sneak Attack are important plots to strike back if our opponent gets too ahead in board position.

  • 2) There are 4 ways to control strong characters in Agot 2.0 at the moment. You can kill them/send them back to hand, blank them, kneel them or stealth them. For preventing the kill we got Little Bird against Tears of Lys and Aemon (not for Ned). Put to the Sword and Burn effects are easily played around uf you suspects it in your enemies hand. Plus we have Bran and Hand of Judgement for mean Events. The double Confiscation is extremely important to handle Milk of the Poppy which everyone runs 3 off and would otherwise fuck us quite hard. Kneeling isnt good against Ned, but horrific against Mormont and Seal of the Hand is included exclusively for him. Fortunately kneel is very limited with the exception of melisandre. (When shes out and you dont play Mormont at all or try to find Seal of the Hand with Building Orders.) Annoying Stealth Characters need to be milked or at least be somewhat controlled by Benjen and his niece Arya.

Plot Choices:

  • 2x Confiscation are needed against Milk, wildfire is good for aggressive decks, Sneak Attack synergizes well with our whole strategy and offers high gold and initiative.
  • Noble Cause to get Ned or Mormont in play and Building Orders is soooo versatile. Gives us the Wall if we got Mormont, little Bird if Intrigue matters, milk if we need an answer NOW and maybe even Seal of the Hand to counter Melisandre.
  • Feast for Crows can be any other gold giving plot. For now i like the ability to mass some power Quickly if I need to.

That is another strenght of this deck: We can gather a lot of power without initiating challenges. That's important because with just defending we can't win and our opponent might use the time to find another way to deal with our Win condition. In Addition to the Wall there are Benjen, Sansa, Eddard / Longclaw for Renown and Feast for Crows.

Tips for Piloting:

  • Try to set up at least 3 characters or 2 plus Castle Black.
  • Sansa is great for Set up, Arya is bad as effects dont trigger.
  • KNOW when you can play the Wall. 4 gold often means that you wont do anything else and most of the time it is correct to play Mormont first and then the Wall on the next turn.
  • Play Sneak Attack, Noble Cause and Wildfire quite early and wait with Building Orders when you know you need a specific card. Feast for Crows can be used early too if the Reserve doesnt hurt you too much. If you have problems choosing a good plot at the beginning switch Feast for crows for Calm over Westeros as its great early.
  • Keep Aemon alive, hes amazing. Think twice about sending him into the flames of Wildfire.

Changes to consider:

  • Every Event can be changed to a more agressive or controlling playstyle. Suggestions are highly appreciated.
  • Feast for Crows
  • Heart Tree Grove. I thought about the character reducers but locations dont die to wildfire and limited shouldn't be a problem as nights watch hasn't its own reducer location.
  • Longclaw: Probably a win more card. I would include a 2nd Seal of the Hand, but Mormont and Eddard are the only lords worth putting it on.
