Just my attempt at a competitive Tyrell deck. The central idea of the deck is to leverage an advantage in both cards and economy while gaining enough power to close the game quickly through multiple efficient renown characters and other power gain tricks/cards. It's not really a deck where it's imperative to win early. It's more about trying to get to positions where you can reach with your extra power gain and win in a couple key challenges rather than dominating your opponent start to finish. I wasn't really interested in building a Tyrell list until Brienne of Tarth came out. I think this card is actually a pretty significant boon to Tyrell and definitely inspired me to make the list. I will say, retrospectively I noticed there's not a ton of knight synergy(which is fine) and I was actually more impressed with Randyll Tarly, Street of the Sisters, and Superior Claim than I thought I'd be. Lady Sansa's Rose wasn't too crazy, but it is a nice card to have, especially to threaten on defense. I tried to fit in a little something to deal with almost everything. I find that with this deck I love when my opponent goes first, so I can be sure to make the most out of my renown characters and trigger the important effects I may need to. You can keep your characters safe pretty easily with 3x Bodyguard + plenty of dupes for all the important ones + 1 Lady in Waiting to be cheeky(At least she's a loyal card for more potential draw off Renly!).

These are the changes that I've made to the deck since the tournament: -2 Lady Sansa's Rose, +1 Superior Claim, +1 Renly's Pavilion. I've found that I like having a copy of Sansa's Rose to threaten, but it's not essential the the strategy of the deck at all. I like the consistency of the power going on my house card and Renly's Pavilion is an excellent card with Randyll.

R1 vs Martell Rains(Win): This match was interesting. I was fortunate enough that my opponent had kind of a slow start, and I was able to tutor out Highgarden with Support of the People turn 1, which spared me a lot of grief throughout the game. Valar was played, and my board felt like it was fairly fragile, especially since this deck is kind of weak to negative attachments(which I ran in to a lot in this game), but I was able to pull it out by focusing on power challenges and keeping most of my key characters alive.

R2 vs Lannister KoS(Win): I had a really excellent setup with two reducers and KoF + a kingsroad. Unfortunately KoF was sniped by Joffrey Baratheon (GoH) turn 1 and that set me back a bit. My economy was really excellent though and I was able to get a dupe or bodyguard on all my important characters. Highgarden and a very well timed Arbor Knight + Mare in Heat stopped my opponent from playing his PTTS or Tears of Lys for a round which bought me enough time to rush out quite a bit of power with Randyll + Marg + Heartsbane + Superior Claim and Brienne. He confiscated my Bodyguard on Randyll in order to set up a kill with Joffrey next turn, but I won initiative and found a duplicate off a Pleasure Barge and that basically won me the game.

R3 vs Lannister LotC(Win): Another decent enough setup with Brienne on the flop with some economy. Again turn 1 my opponent played Joffrey to snipe my 5 drop, which really sucked. A turn 2 Valar from my opponent saw Knight of Flowers hit the dead pile, and he had a duped Tywin who stayed on the board, but a lack of limited economy really hurt my opponent and I was able to recover over the next few turns with Renly, Randyll, and Marg. Turn 2 Valar and turn 3 Counting Coppers from my opponent were both really low impact turns for him. I believe I also tutored out The Mander and had a decent play with Ollena's Informant that helped me swing a lot of tempo in my favor. My opponent was able to hold on pretty well with Tywin and The Hound, but I drew too many cards and eventually got enough power to close out the game in one giant power challenge.

R4 vs Baratheon Banner of the Kraken(Win): This was a tough match for me, and I knew Baratheon would be. I had to kill Knight of Flowers turn 1 in order to preserve Randyll and Marg(Mel + Asha, beezies), which did a ton of work. I also managed to find my Heartsbane for Randyll. Marg was the target of two milks, but Pullings the Strings for Confiscation + My own Confiscation eventually got the duo online. I was able to develop Renly I think as well as Brienne and closed the game out through renown. A resurrected Knight of Flowers may have joined the party as well, it's a little hazy. I was fortunate my opponent did not see either his Red Keep or Robert Baratheon. I also think I may have set up Street of Sisters which ended up gaining me 3 extra power this game(value).

Semi-Final vs Targaryen LoTC(Win): My opponent was also playing a power rush type of deck. Silver Steed, Ser Barristan Selmy (LoCR), Daenerys, Khal Drogo, and dothraki pals made for a very interesting multiple challenge deck. Both of us had pretty significantly developed boards. Whoever won initiative and went second basically had the best time. I was able to keep all of my characters duped, so his Valar couldn't do too much and a turn 4 Tourney for the King won me initiative so I could win with a big flashy power challenge. Randyll gaining multiple renown did a lot of work this game. Also, my opponent never played Daenerys which may have been a problem for me winning challenges.

Final vs Baratheon Banner of the Kracken(same person)(Win): Once again this was a very tough game. I set up Brienne, who was knelt by Mel in marshalling. I had a pretty decent economy and was able to develop Renly + a Seal of the Hand on Brienne, keeping his Asha at bay for a turn. Seal was Confiscated next turn. I spent the next 3 turns not doing much as Melisandre + other kneel effects kept my board pretty well in check. Eventually I drew and played Randyll and Knight of Flowers. My opponent was up to 12 or 13 power at this point from unopposed and dominance, but ran out of steam and I won over the course of two turns worth of power gain from all my renown characters + Street of Sisters + Superior Claim.

The deck is fun. Certainly an archetype I don't see too much of in my local meta and I wanted to give it a whirl. Hopefully this can inspire some confidence in Tyrell as a faction, as I believe them to be a top contender these days if leveraged properly. It's a list that requires some finesse, but shouldn't be too tough to figure out how to play. Hope you enjoy my take on Tyrell Summer. Cheers!

And just like that The High Spero takes down another tournament. Congrats on the win. Thanks for the nice write up too - certainly helps those who wish they could have been there feel closer to the action.

@celricThank you! I felt this one deserved a write-up. Hopefully I catch you at a tournament sometime soon!

What do you think about King Renly's Host? I want to try them out, but if they don't fit in a Tyrell Summer deck I don't know if they fit anywhere.

@teamjimbyI think it's an interesting card. I'm honestly not sure what deck I'd play them in though. My main goal was to gain power very quickly, and the card just seems kind of slow for a deck like this.

Thanks for the writeup! Looking at the list it seems like the Knight of Summer would be a good fit for the deck with it having 5 Summer plots and 3 Lady Sansa's Rose. I'm guessing it's simply a matter of space as to why he's not there or was it something else? Also is there anything you'd change now? Thanks again, I'm definitely going to try this one out.

@NastyJackThat card was in the original list. Eventually I decided to cut it because he's not an efficient body for the cost unless he's activated and also I don't want to invest in anything that just dies to Valar. You could find room for it by cutting cards like Paxter and Lady-in-Waiting, and I don't think there's anything wrong with that. After playing the deck I would cut 1 Lady Sansa's Rose for a third Superior Claim. I like the power going on my house card more than a character and also I find a lot of the time I'm swinging in for gigantic power challenges anyway. Sansa's Rose, while a great card just isn't as imperative as I thought it'd be. When the new pack comes out I'll find room to include 1x Renly's Pavilion as well.

Oh yeah I can't wait for the Pavilion. That card opens up so many options.
