I played this deck on the last "Batalla por el muro". I wanted to play Baratheon but I didn't want to go with the typical Fealty deck.

Why Wolf I expected a lot of Lannisters and GJs so I decided to banner Start mainly for Frozen Solid and Last Hearth Scouts. I tested the deck for 2 weeks before the tournament and it performed well. The night before the tournament I was convinced by my friends that it is better to drop the Frozen Solid as it is not the impactful card it was in 1.0. After the tournament I must admit that this was the right thing to do. As I was flying with low cost flight I didn't bring all my cards with me and had just a few extra cards with me. I wanted to add 2x Put to the Torch but had only one copy with me.

The Games

  1. Win - Tyrell Stag - vs Lukasz (Panda Post) - Good start for me - I found my throne and chamber before he did and in those match ups I think this is what wins the game.
  2. Win - GJ Fealty - vs David Herrera - I successfully locked his main characters with Melisandre (Core) and when fat bobby hit the board it was an easy win.
  3. Lose - Targ Summer - vs Roberto Tome - When testing the weeks before this was one of my bad match ups. This was the only game during the tournament where there was nothing I can do. I had 5 limited locations in hand after mulligan, found another one with building orders (nothing else in top 10 cards) and the game ended on turn 3 or 4 with his Khal Drogo on board.
  4. Win - NW Wolf - vs Tomasz Wilk - He was trying to choke me so playing the high income plots while setting up thorne and chamber won me the game in the end.
  5. Lose - Lanni Cast - vs Javier Varela - I had everything I needed and the game was going pretty well for me until he played Political Disaster where I discarded 3 economy cards and had to choose between chamber throne and red keep. Eventually I decided to remove the chamber and leave throne and red keep on board hoping that I will be able to keep up with the draw from the red keep. Unfortunately that same turn I drew another red keep. So if I had removed the red keep I would have had it all back in place again. After that I could not rebuild my board without economy or taking his power.
  6. Win - Lanni Cast - Tupaq Castro - I was surprised to see Tupaq at the lower tables. Then I was not surprised when he leaded with 14-1 as he got harrenhal and all his clansmen shenanigans on board from turn 1. I was ready to give up but we continued playing for another round. I guess he got too confident playing wildfire only to kill one of my reducers and made some more mistakes. I drew Chamber and Last Hearth Scouts which totally blocked his jumpers and slowly crowed to the win. That was the best game as experience for me during the tournament. It was a great pleasure and honor to play against such opponent.
  7. Win - Martell Crossing - Daniel Bellido - For the past 4 years I have always played Martell. I am Martell die hard supporter. I was just tired losing with Martell and didn't enjoy the game at all for the past year so that's why I switched for this tournament to Baratheon. So as a Martell player if there was a matchup that I was really ready to face this was Martell. My opponent got to 13 power in the end by I think I controlled the game and he couldn't catch up to throne/chamber and at the end it was a win with no surprises.
  8. Lose - Tyrell Crossing - Nicola Brutti - Nicola is great guy and I am really happy that he reached the final. I didn't expect Tyrell Crossing to be so dominant and was not really prepared to play against such deck. However I managed to slow the game until round 7. I successfully valared most of his main characters but I made a few small mistakes during the game which resulted in Nicola making the cut and me playing in The Bear and the Maiden...

It was a great tournament. I was really happy that apart from playing twice vs Lanni Cast all my other opponents were running different houses. It was really nice to see that the house representation in the tournament statistics was quite even apart from targ and martell of course but hopefully this will be fixed with the next cycle. For me this house representation is a sign that the game is in a quite good place (at least people are enjoying playing different houses). The cut representation however speaks of all the other problems which ffg should focus on solving. Unfortunately there is no sign of improving this in the near future.
