Gerion Lannister 241
This is the deck I played at Prague Regional tournament yesterday. The strategy was obvious - renown + some control by "The Rains of Castamere" and strength pumps. Margaery Tyrell (AMAF) and The Queen of Thorns were excellent in every game I drew them. Randyll Tarly rolled and won me the first game against Ben Fox with no cards in my hand. I expected a lot of locations but Political Disaster performed very badly except one game against Greyjoys. I should have run second Counting Coppers instead as I originally planned to.
The deck performed really good. I had only one The Arbor setup and with some luck I was able to survive my worst possible matchup (Lannister Rains) twice. In TOP8 game I played with Ben Fox again and my setup after mulligan was: Littlefinger + Crown of Golden Roses + Bodyguard. After Marched to the Wall I was able to play protected Margaery Tyrell (AMAF) and Great Hall and somewhat consolidate, but Cersei Lannister (Core) + Wildfire Assault + Trial by Combat later were too much to handle. It was also impossible to trigger "The Rains of Castamere" the whole game (because of Lannister all INT deck).
I would like to congratulate Ben, he is a better player than me and he deserved this Red-Wedding-like revenge. :) Also big thanks to the organisers and all players I was able to play with. I had a great time in Prague!

Hi! I prefer Riddle because I can copy opponents Valar and against Summer and Winter decks there is sometimes nothing to copy by Pulling. But both plots are good. I tried 1x Counting and 1x Summons and that is probably the right plot combination. But from 3 games I was never able to find Margaery with Summons. I know, I was only unlucky, but I generally prefer Counting over Summons. :) Thx for your questions. |

And one thing I forgot to say: This deck is really anti-Targaryen build because I thought that at regionals will be plenty of them. Saddly, I played only with one. Growing Strong is the best counter for A Dragon Is No Slave. You pay only one gold for it and boost 3 characters. :) |
