First!

How are there no Greyjoy Winter decks posted on thronesdb yet?!

Greyjoy winter was my favorite 1.0 deck. I loved the theme, the synergies, the Wintertime Marauders. I've been waiting to build a 2.0 version since Kings of Winter was announced. While many of the 1.0 GJ winter shenanigans were given to NW (Ice Fisherman > Meager Contribution), there is still some fun to be had.

This is what I've been playing around with. It's a start, anyway. So far it either works, and you make your opponent miserable, or they have the Arbor or Tywin on setup and you lose.

I tend to start with weird builds to push things towards an extreme, then dial things back and make the deck more conventional. In this case, I'm pushing character and cost curve extremely low to take advantage of a first-turn Wraiths.

Some thoughts:

-It's fun making mini-voltrons with Little Bird and Pyke and the Scouts

-No Alannys Greyjoy because she isn't what you want to be paying 3 gold for first turn, and she's conditional (hard to win initiative with Wraiths), and reserve doesn't matter much after that first turn

-No Balon Greyjoy (Core) or Euron Crow's Eye because they're expensive. Balon and the Great Kraken might have to find a home. Working on it.

-3x Nightmares in case you get to go first. Then you can blank a Kingsroad! Heh heh heh. Otherwise, it's always solid.

-No Naval Superiority. Need to test with it. I like opening with it, but I also like opening Wraiths, and Naval is so much worse with all of the seasons floating around.

-3x Aeron, because he is economy and card advantage all in one! He's great with small board states. We'll see if he sticks around, but I like him for now.

Right now, I think this is a fun T2 deck! What do you think, hivemind? How are you building GJ winter?

aren't you hurting yourself with The First Snow of Winter I din\t like little bird. cuz you gotta have better characters with intrigue. 26 characters is low 18 locations is way too much

@GreakI've been worried about the First Snow question myself, but you do have some nice synergies. Saves, possible duped Aeron, reduced reserve, and the Famine follow-up can all make it really effective for you. So far it's been great for me. As for the ratios, yeah, character count will probably come up a touch, though saves allow for a somewhat reduced total. Pretty sure 18 locations is fine in Greyjoy.

How does Wraiths in Their Midst helps you 1st turn ?

@Greak Most openers have 6 reserve. Reducing that to 3 for your opponent usually results in him/her discarding a few cards. Then you get to play the rest of the game with some card advantage.

This looks solid. Honestly, I do not think you need Naval Superiority because Famine does a lot of the same work. Instead of denying the the resources, it is making their resources worth less. I am going to play around with it, see if I can find room for a 3rd Rattleshirt's Raiders. Right now this deck is going to be running super light on characters and Ward will really hurt this deck. I'll let you know what I find.

@Beknirvana Awesome, let us know how it goes for you!

I'm finding the Fishing Nets to be expendable. Maybe drop both and add 1x Rattleshirts, 1x Reader. That will help a touch with Ward, First Snow, etc.

totally agree, I missed the GJ winter theme as well, built myself a similar deck like yours. How is the Captain's Daughter working for you?
