Thanes 2

Hello, this is the deck I played in Stahleck. The deck is not very refined, I played it only a couple of times before the event, simply because of lack of time.

I'm dedicated Martell player and I really like the theme of "The Rains of Castamere" so I wanted to give it a try. I only saw one Martell player sitting next to me, I think there wasn't many at the event, so it might be at least a little bit interesting.

I played against 5 Lannisters (different agendas) and 2 Starks. I ended up with 4 wins (1 Stark Fealty and 3 Lanni) and 3 losses (2 Lanni, 1 Stark) at 93rd place. The report would be probably quite boring to you, I'm not a very experienced player. But I loved the turn around against my first Stark opponent, when RoC activated Wildfire Assault combined with Quentyn Martell, Tyene Sand and Tears of Lys cleared up the board of 6 characters including Catelyn Stark (WotN) with 4 power, Jon Snow (WotN) and The Blackfish. Amazing game.

The deck is supposed to work like a control to later part of the game and the swing heavily with The Red Viper and Doran's Game. Most of the time you have no problem pushing through "The Rains of Castamere" and e. g. clear up the board, kneel a character using Filthy Accusations or standing up you Viper / Renown character with Power Behind the Throne.

I'd be really happy for any advice how to improve the deck, it certainly is lacking in some regards.

Thanks!

Hi, I'm the poor stark player you destroyed game 2, which although I lost was actually my favourite game of the day because I'm still so amazed how your deck turned the entire game around in one turn! I love martell and your list looks fun so I may try playing around with it for a while. I remember you struggled to play much during the first half of the game, was that always a problem or just bad luck in our game. Congrats on going 4-3!

Thanes 2

Hi there! That game was amazing, also my favourite one of the day, it was a close one, I thought I'll never be able to turn it around :D

As for your question, you had a really great board early on - especially new Catelyn Stark (WotN) with enough power (I think she was a 8/9 STR) so I just couldn't push through the intrigue challenge by five STR... Therefore I couldn't trigger "The Rains of Castamere", so I struggled a lot. Also I think that I drew Nymeria Sand and Attainted little bit later than I should have :)

But you're right, the early game is a little bit weaker, the deck is supposed to stall the game with Vengeance for Elia and His Viper Eyes and make a huge swing later.

I still don't know how much will Valar Morghulis affect everything, don't think this will be that viable after that.

Thank you for the comment, it was really great to play against you :)
