The Ser Barristan Selmy (TS) is a great tool for an offensive Valar deck.

He's a beast by himself if the opponent doesn't have with Stealth or something like Winterfell, Nightmares etc. He's vulnerable to Tears of Lys or any other kill effect on himself, so you need duplicates and Iron Mines.

There are two great interactions for Valar Morghulis:

  • You can keep him knelt with Stannis Baratheon (Core) if you want to play Valar next round.
  • You can kneel him with Aeron Damphair (TIMC) after you save him from Valar. Since Aeron is a Lord, Ser Barristan can return the favor, save Aeron, and stand back up in the process.

I decided to run a little Weapon and Item module with Raider from Pyke and Street of Steel. Victarion Greyjoy is a great new target for Throwing Axe, King Robert's Warhammer, or Seal of the Hand.

The rest is the classic R'hllor kneel package which is too good to pass up: 3x Melisandre, 3x Fiery Followers, 3x Seen In Flames, 1x Selyse Baratheon, 1x Lightbringer (which Selmy also likes).

Plots:

That's the critical mass of Kingdom to play The Stone Drum.

Thanks for reading! :-)

Hey I'm glad to see Barristan getting some love. What is the endgame of this deck though? I see Hyper Kneel potential with Stannis Baratheon (Core) and Aeron Damphair (TIMC). Would you consider switching out one of your draw plots for Filthy Accusations and maybe adding some Stinking Drunks and Bodyguards?

@SonOfBattles1: Thanks for your comment. The endgame is classic : challenges and renown.

The attachment-focused cards are probably suboptimal. I agree that Stinking Drunk is a highly effective card. You can even refrain from triggering it if you want to play Valar next turn.

What about these changes?

+1 Filthy Accusations +1 Littlefinger +1 Theon Greyjoy +3 Stinking Drunk
+1 Street of the Sisters +1 Dragonstone Port +1 Asshai Priestess +1 Risen from the Sea

−1 Counting Coppers −2 Raider from Pyke −1 Seal of the Hand −1 Lightbringer −2 Throwing Axe −1 King Robert's Warhammer −1 Fishing Net −1 Street of Steel

@Diomedes I would hang onto Lightbringer, it's R'hollor (kneel, kneel, kneel) and an awesome attachment. Maybe only add +2 Stinking Drunk in that case. I would also switch in A Clash of Kings for Close Call if we want to power rush. I'd also put in some Bodyguards, you have plenty of targets.

I like the direction of your deck, there's a lot of potential in the Barakraken build.

Thanks! These are very good suggestions. I will keep 1x Lightbringer. A Clash of Kings is also a great idea.

As for the saves I think I'd prefer Risen from the Sea over Bodyguard if I need more of them.

Would you consider to replace 1 or 2 Fiery Followers with Asshai Priestess?

Diomedes 3294

I prefer Fiery Followers by far: setup-friendly, 2 icons, synergy with Stannis Baratheon (Core), helps win dominance.

Asshai Priestess even depends on the opponent's board to be effective.

One thing I did change: replacing Counting Coppers with Naval Superiority. Most decks open with Trading with the Pentoshi or A Noble Cause these days. Even if you hit Summer Harvest it's not that bad. If the opponent plays Kings of Summer or Kings of Winter, I'll open with Trading with the Pentoshi or Summons as before.
