Bara Fealty...yay? We all know the deck. I played a couple games and I won; now I am the king.

I don't play much AGoT 2.0. I really enjoyed 1.0, but this version has never grabbed me the same way. Going into the night before the tournament I had not chosen a deck. I decided to play Targ and looked on thronesdb for a deck to copy. The deck I decided on was Targ Crossing...for about five minutes. Cory @darkbladecb was going to play Bara Fealty and I had won last year at this SC with a Bara deck, so I just copied his deck instead. Why not go for two years in-a-row? Of course, I made some tweaks. You can never just straight copy a deck. Probably less than 10 cards difference total (including plots).

Two Things I Wished I Had Changed:

  • Either swap out one Nightmares or Consolidation of Power for a third Chamber of Painted Table. Table is such a strong tool to just win a game from a negative position.
  • Switch Valar Morghulis for Counting Coppers. Same Gold, but three cards instead of killing everything. I'm basically the Veruca Salt of cards.

Note: there were seven players at this tournament. That means three rounds, no cut, and a bye each round.

Round 1: Win vs Bye ;) I went to McDonald's and had lunch. It was a cheeseburger, tasted okay.

Round 2: Win vs Brennan (Tyrell Rains of Castamere) I had the dream start. Robert Baratheon, Dragonstone Faithful, and a Roadroad. After redraw I had Melisandre and Stannis. He had a decent flop, but it did not include the Arbor. First turn I got Mel and couple other kneels. He spent most of his gold playing Arbor. I attacked; he passed. That was how most of the turns went. Turn two I played Stannis and more kneels. He did not have Valar, and with the power trio on board the game was over.

Round 3: Win vs Jamie (Tyrell The Lord of the Crossing) I started with duped Melisandre, a Moon Boy, and a Roadroad. Like my previous game, my opponent had a decent flop that didn't include the Arbor. A turn one Trading with the Pentoshi allowed him to play the Arbor as well as a good character, but I had kneels. I also played The Red Keep, which along with Moon Boy meant I was drawing at least three cards a turn. Stannis hit the board on turn 2, and this game went basically the same as the previous.

So, two near-perfect draws and I won a SC. This is not where the story ends.

Later the same day...Round 4: The SC is over and it was time to celebrate. I'm a few beers in when REDACTED challenges my SC win saying I didn't earn it. I told them to grab their deck and I would grab another beer. At the start of the game I was playing up how tipsy I was in order to throw my opponent off, but I was still clear-headed enough to remember the game. I start with Gendry, Bastard in Hiding, Roseroad, and I believe Painted Table. I did not see much control this game, hitting only one kneel per turn, but Gendry+Table was enough to put my opponent on the defensive. I played Robert turn one, who was immediately Milked. Turn two I flip Confiscation to remove Milk, but Robert takes another dose in marshalling. Challenges were made, and I end dom with the power lead. This is where the game starts to get hazy; I quickly dipped from tipsy to drunk. I remember REDACTED having to Valar to clear the power from Gendry. On my next turn I picked up my discard pile instead of my hand and started playing from there. Luckily a viewer noticed and corrected me...it was awfully nice of them. Turn seven starts and I have fourteen power. I have Valar as my last plot, a duped Mel, and Ser Davos. I completely forgot what Davos did and put in him in my dead pile, which looked bad seeing as I had zero characters in hand. My opponent is first player and they spend their turn flooding the board with characters against my lone Melisandre. Next is my marshalling. I calmly collected my gold (that part might not be true), then proceeded to play Consolidation of Power on my own Mel to gain my 15th power. Good Game.

And with that, my SC was finally over.

I want to thank everyone who came out to play on the day, Gamer's Armory in Cary for hosting the event, and especially Cory for letting me steal his deck. <3

You're welcome.

My decks have more wins than I do.

<3 you.
