With 45 cards that cost 3 or less its no wonder it's called small ball. The locations in this deck are almost more important than the characters. The fear they instill does just as much damage as having out big characters. Who wants to win challenges with their big guy when Ghaston Grey is out? Who wants to will all 3 challenges when The Boneway is out? Who wants to win military challenges when Sunspear is out? Not only that, winning doesn't even guarantee reward for your opponents thanks to cards like Burning on the Sand. That's before we even get to my characters!
My characters are cheap because The Lord of the Crossing requires you keep lots of characters on board to ensure 3 challenges. I run 2 Late Summer Feast for a reason, 1 for opening the game and 1 for after the inevitable Wildfire Assault or Valar Morghulis that will surely come.. The Greenblood works well with LOTC because you don't suffer that negative 1 on your first challenge. My advice Is to get out The Boneway and Harmen Uller ASAP. Not in setup because I don't believe in 1 character setups but within the first 2 rounds. this will prepare you for if things don't go your way early and now your snakes are all cheaper which could potentially save you 7 gold best case scenario.
Final peice of how this deck is supposed to work is imagine having The Boneway, Sunspear, and playing Burning on the Sand. They get 1 power for unopposed, you get 2 of something hopefully or and another bone way token and god forbid you have Elia Sand now one of your characters are stealth. Alot to hope for yes.. But you will learn to set up your board to make this likely.
As usual this Martell decks theme is "losing is winning". With The Greenblood out your 2 cost House Dayne Knight is at least 3 strength and possibly 4 if your playing another summer faction which brings him up to a grand total of 7 strength on the third challenge if you play A Song of Summer.
