I put her into play with unespected return: can I trigger her reaction? On teki it works but I’m not sure about this.

Yep, that's legit. You play a Targ event, and then a reaction window opens, during which you can trigger reactions from any cards in play - and Deny is one of them. She does not need to "witness" you play that event. — mplain 237
