• Triggering the ability does not make the character participate in the challenge. That means the character cannot be removed from the challenge by card effects that target participating characters (for instance, Shrewd Diplomat). It also means you cannot resolve keywords such as renown, insight, intimidate, or pillage for that character.

• You cannot win a challenge unless you control at least 1 participating character. If your STR total for the challenge is higher than your opponent's but you do not control a participating character, the challenge ends with no winner or loser.

• If attached character is participating in the challenge and also contributing its STR via the attachment at the same time, you still only count its STR once.

• Any card ability that explicitly says a character does not contribute its STR to a challenge takes precedence over any card ability or framework effect that says the opposite. For instance, if attached character also has Traitor to the Crown attached, it will still not contribute its STR during a challenge.

• In a Melee game, you cannot trigger the ability during a challenge in which you are neither the attacking nor the defending player, because there is no "your side".
