Hello People,

This is the last iteration of my approach to build a combined Martell Arechtype of board reset and control deck in once.

The whole thing started a few month ago as a control style deck i built for a local tournament with Jaqen, Quentin, Elia etc. in it. Since then Cancer Lancer came out, Dornish Spy and now Valar Dohaeris. Since then I took a slightly different iteration to another GNK. Briefly, I got crushed, lost every game, 2-3 of them to 10/12 power but I liked my new deck so well and to play poker with my opponent. I began to test and switch out cards, this is the last one I tried and got nice responses like rage quitters all the time......or reaaaaalllyyyyy nice and tense games with opponents who made me publish it.

The play style and curve is quite a different. You may play your opponent, you may ambush a lot and control your opponent. It takes a while to play this deck well, but its a lot of fun, e.g. Disaster after Trade Routes drives people crazy. 2 Times Marched to protect your little ones or big ones from an opponents Valar or to get needed stuff in your discard pile. The second one is the most surprising for the people. Game plan depends on the deck type of your opponent. Rains gives you a lot of options, but its not really needed. Keep in mind you will often lose the first turns challenges until you got your stuff in hand, discard pile and on board. Its all about Control.

Few choices are gonna be made and need a lot of testing: Plots:

  • Valar Dohaeris????? - really tough, sometimes I wish I had it, sometimes its useless at all
  • Summer Harvest????? - Money, don't wanna give card draw or money to the opponent....
  • Vary´s Riddle?????? - or Red Wedding, or Game of Thrones.....dont know, see first one above....

Chars:

  • 3rd Varys....dont know if I need it.....
  • 3rd Southron....no deck space at all
  • 2nd Arianne....same as Southron
  • Orphans - Resetting, thats clear, power Icon - really needed, maybe cut one for 3rd Southron

Rest: the toughest choice: 3/3 Attainted/Imprisoned or 2/2/2 with condemned?????

  • this is really hard, you gonna lose a lot of power the first turns and afterwards it tough to choose how you take the power away from the opponent. From the chars it possible to get them to 1 Icon with 3/3 and take the other with Nymeria/Spy or bring em back to hand with Southron to buy time. Often its way to late to get the swing and you lose closely. 3/3 is good for bringing through the Rains or Tyene for small board type of play.

  • Viper Eyes clearly 3 !!!
  • Flea Bottom clearly 3 as the MVP to bring this deck to life !!!
  • Secret Schemes - missing deck space for 3 and I think 3 not needed
  • Iron Bank - MVP with bring back Spy or Areo to hand, Long Plan and Valar next turn or similar, 2nd no deck space :(

= A Little more Control over the Power Challenges and flexibility....

still a curse of not getting te power to winning securely....
