Pretty straightforward concept - Your Win Condition is My Win Condition. I have that cheeky 1x Tycho and Broken Vows that I really shouldn’t have and never do anything but I can’t help it. I SHOUKD replace them (probably with another Guarding the Realms and a Seized by the Guard). I teched against grejoy specifically knowing that was my biggest threat, hence Haunted Forest and Cunning Steward, and it worked out perfectly. Coukd maybe use a shadow tower mason or two as well, but eh.
Tourney report in brief: against two different greyjoy wars decks, I had two unquestioned victories. In one case my opponent started with euron & baby theon on the board and, of course, WDnS in hand. Cunning Steward and Isle of Ravens saved my ass, preventing a Wall theft that would have effectively ended the game. I stole Tiny Theon and many, many non-uniques over the course of the hame to keep his Euron and Asha more or less useless. Second GJ game was even more of a rout - early Varys gave me access to King Balon and Queen Asha, then a bloody flux into his valor sent them and euron to his dead pile for good. Victarion was constantly neutered by craven and breaking ties until i finally managed to steal him thanks to a timely Mutiny. Against Targ, my opponent had a hard time getting characters out, and another early varys gave me all three dragons. He had nothing good to burn except his own characters. Queenscrown kept him out of characters until the game was over.
Last and certaunly jot least, this monstrosity: thronesdb.com utterly flattened me both times I played against it in swiss and final. Turns out this deck isn’t great against other weenie reset decks. Oops. Ideally you’d want to steal greenbloods (and in this case vanguard lancers) and get them dead, but the dom + table + boneway + all that dornish draw is a lot to overcome. Basically, I ended up wishing I had the old wall.
Unexpected MVP for me was the nefarious acolyte. Another surprise blocker for greyjoy and a great big f**k you to barring the gates and even breaking ties sometimes.
I’m outta stuff to say. Basically I just love stealin’.
