Let me introduce you to our lineup of fine Lords and Ladies. We have Daenerys, Khal Drogo, Littlefinger, Magister Illyrio, Ser Jaime Lannister, and Tyrion Lannister.

And lest we forget most noble and kind lord of all, the redoubtable Ser Gregor Clegane.

Made it to top 2 at CT regionals (4/2/16) due to decent setups and dropping huge bombs turn after turn. Ran into an awesome Lanni/Kraken deck in both the last round of Swiss and the finals that ripped me to shreds. Had tons of fun, never expected to make it as far as I did.

I would change a few things here and there. Definitely find room for Confiscation since Milk shuts down the Drogo combo. Daenerys was OK, but I might drop some of the dragon tech to go up to 3x Hound in the first snow environment, and fill out the low end a bit better. I'd also probably ditch the Plaza for Seal of the Hand, since it combos very well with the big fellas. Also, -1 Widow's Wail and +1 Littlefinger (yes really).

@jm2215 was the 1st place deck that broke me twice :)

So you really DID have Dany in your deck! I still wasn't sure lol! It was great playing against you man, hope to see you in the cut for the next one as well!

Haha, indeed, I almost fooled myself. I think I played her once the entire day! Well played and congrats again.

Grats on 2nd dude. One question - How'd you like Ser Gregor Clegane here? I'm too much of a wuss to include him in my build because of all the high cost characters.

Thanks! I think Ser Gregor Clegane is underrated. He does have significant weaknesses, and he is expensive, but consider the positives:

  1. Triggers like Put to the Sword become easier to trigger. It forces them to let the trigger go or overcommit to defense.
  2. With Khal out, you are guaranteed 2 real military challenges, instead of attacking with a random 4 strength guy.
  3. The "wheel of fortune" ability is better than it appears. If you assume an average deck has around 35/60 characters, within 2 triggers you will hit a character around 80-85% of the time. And of that time, sometimes it is meaningless, but other times it is devastating - with the claim it can be an effective 3-fer and end the game by itself.

I also ran 3x Milk as some characters like Nymeria are real issues for Gregor. Although even when he was just a 10 strength Iron Throne, it was useful for dominance.

Of course if you look at my plots, I am running super-high economy to ensure I can dump out at least 1 bomb a turn for the first few turns. If your deck has lots of 4-gold plots it's pretty risky, and you probably have someone better to marshal with your sole A Noble Cause if you're only running one.

Hello! Why don't you play Drogon?

msb222 82

A lot of similar decks used to do 2x each dragon. In this deck, I liked 3x of the others without Drogon because:

  1. Renown on Dany is the least useful ability. Don't get me wrong, it is not bad, but it's not as game-changing as stand and stealth.
  2. The deck is fine on military, and the monocon is not great for the 3 slot.
  3. With first snow, dupes on <= 3 cost characters are really good. For that reason, I think it was my mistake not to play 3x Hound to pin him on the board, so you can keep the gold for another ambush challenge if they flip that plot.

This was all in theory - in practice I never found myself thinking "if I only had Drogon right now...", so I guess it worked to some degree :)

congrats on the 2nd place finish @msb222! I also run Targ/Lion. Just wondering, were you at all afraid of Naval Superiority ? Did you see it at all during the tournament?

msb222 82

Thanks. Was I afraid of Naval Superiority? Deathly so! On the car ride, I mentioned to my friends that my best case would be to have them hit A Noble Cause when I have at least one Roseroad and am holding a Kingsroad, so I could get something going.

I personally didn't see any of it in my match ups, and didn't hear anecdotal evidence that it was around in large numbers. If I had thought there would be a lot of Night's Watch (more common with Naval), this is not the kind of deck I would really want to run in any case.
