Could have been top 4 at least if not for player mistake.

After this tournament I would change the plots a little bit. The two Wildfires helped quite a bit on the day. Using one early then allowing opponent to flood before using the other.

I originally went into the tournament with Trading with Pentoshi but traded it in for A Noble Cause before the start of the tournament. I don't regret that at all but realize a Pentoshi may have been more helpful at some points but the 3 gold would have helped opponent come back or play more characters which is not good because GJ like a smaller board. I would swap out a wildfire for a marched to the wall. The deck went 5-2 in swiss loosing to two Lannister players, one with unbeatable starting hand, while mine was bad and my draw let me down both of those games. Top 16 was Greyjoy mirror which was a great fast game ended on third plot, winning initiative in the Greyjoy mirror wins you the game, for the 3rd and last plot, Weapons at the door initiative won the game to his 8 kraken plot. Top 8 game was a Lannister banner kraken, excellent game, was recorded and I will post link if I can find it online, lost due to player error after a long day of 9 games, thats no excuse as opponent also did the same but I was happy to get that far to prove to myself Greyjoy still has what it takes, couldn't have lost to a more worthy opponent. if i did have marched it would have been my game as he setup Asha gj alone. It was really close, he won 15 to my 14 power in the end. Best card of the day is weapons at the door, amazing card saved and won my games more than once. never taking it out again XD and Syrio is amazing.

will post a tournament report soon. would also probably make some changes to the actual deck as 3 cards over 60

most played houses on the day were - Lannister > Stark > Greyjoy > Martell > other XD

How useful were the Seals of the Hand?

Congrats on your result! How did Drowned God's Blessing work? That is one I have not seen played much

@gundamzgreat on Euron and Balon. Amazing. Other than that there's not too many choices to attach it to. Helps a lot against any bara decks too.

@YEEZUS I'm thinking of taking both of those out. They can be good at boosting str by one or two but in all 9 games of the tournament it didn't once go on Balon or boost him. Plus as a Greyjoy you should have more than enough saves so you don't need it as protection.

Hi, congratulations on your Top 8 finish!

I've seen some of your decks before, and I respect your builds, but I'd really appreciate it if you could explain why you feel Weapons at the Door is better than Confiscation. My pros from Confiscation is the permanent removal of negative attachments, and I don't use Weapons at the Door as it sends them back to my opponent to marshal against me next turn (assuming Weapons isn't a finishing plot seeing as you use Rise of the Kraken!) although high initiative is nice. So why do you prefer Weapons so much?

Secondly, what was the rationale of double Wildfire instead of a First Snow of Winter in the deck?

Isian.H 706

@hagarrrFirstly, I used weapons as a finisher plot a lot especially after a rise of the kraken plot, because of initiative and it prevents ur plans from being foiled by a well timed milk on balon or someone big. i only use rise of the kraken when I am in a better board state and i know i can get some UO challenges. I know the same can be said for clash of kings in terms of initiative and finishing power but i was already using a double claim plot and thought it would be too much.

Weapons at the door is a bit underrated. It helped me so much all tournament because it removes everything, not just one attachment, even if it is just for one turn. The power gain on that turn can be massive and your opponent wont expect you to remove all attachment's at once, and you can always intrigue them out of your opponents hand. The best example of this is a game against a Martell player, it was a long game and I tried my hardest, there were two milks on the field, on Balon and Syrio, and he was removing all my icons with 4 attachments and Nymeria. I was stalling the game trying to keep as much power as possible, the game went to plot 8, playing weapons at the door round 3/4 removed everything and i gained massive power, killed some people and got ahead for a while, then had to wait until plot 8 to use it again. confiscation would have lost me the game. In the current meta Milk is very popular and a lot of decks run x2/x3. it can help GJ a lot too taking away stealth and big abilities like mountain. The only thing you would use confiscation on is milk, seal of the hand, and maybe a Lightbringer. hope it makes sense. if not test it out yourself. last thing, this deck doesn't rely on balon, yeah hes amazing when you have him but, I've had games finish in 3 plots without Balon or Euron in sight just Asha and Theon. so when a Balon gets milked I try and play around it until I am ready to take it off with weapons. It was amazing in my final game on the top 8 table allowing me to remove milks and nearly win (but i'm stupid, didnt see something so i lost)

A 9 initiative plot is a must in a Greyjoy deck since a lot of decks run an 8 initiative plot (mostly marched) to try and win initiative at crucial times. Thats where your 9 plot comes in if you can time it right. I won the greyjoy mirror at top 16 table because I had a 9 plot and he had max 8. and 9 is technically highest initative since theres no way i'm playing a sneak attack in a crossing deck. (there's always snowed under if you are running 3x salty navi's)

SECONDLY - Now, I would swap out a second Wildfire for a Marched BUT the reason behind the double wildfire is that it is that as a greyjoy I love having a small board and two wildfires was perfect for that. First snow would hit me hard a lot of the time as a lot of my characters are small especially the intrigue icons, this can help you get off a seastone easier or a kraken plot next turn. I expected a lot of Stark players in that tournament and using a wildfire early and letting him think i was an idiot for doing so, he then floods the board and I wildfire again killing a lot of unique characters without much effort. Wildfire doesn't affect you much as you only have 3/4 main characters that are unique everyone else that dies can be played again.

sorry for the massive paragraphs, hope it helps. Wapons at the doorwas the Card of the day for me.

and not a single risen from the sea was cancelled that day XD

Thanks for the full and comprehensive response!

I have substituted Confiscation for Weapons instead and I'll see how it goes...

Were there no Hand's Judgments at Blackwater??

Recently went 4-0 in swiss, in a tournament in Northhampton lost in the first round of knockouts to martell (worst matchup imo) he venganced my mil challenges 3 rounds in a row (one double claim). ended up winning third place. 18 players some for regionals practice for next week
