Lanni/Dragon so good it won both Gen Con and GenCant in the same weekend. Or something.

Will Lentz hosted a tournament for those of us that couldn't make Gen Con at Meta Games in Springfield, MO. It's a great store that I've been to a few times for Thrones, and was a must stop location when my family used to go to Branson for vacation. When I originally built for the tournament, it was after watching some of Rob St. John's event videos. I consider myself a decent player, having played CCGs in the past with card combos being a big part of the strategy, so it is with a bit of shame I say that I never realized the nice synergy between Illyrio and Tywin/Tyrion until watching a Lanni/Dragon vs Martell matchup. Knew what I wanted to play after that video.

We had 8 players and decided on a format of 3 swiss games for ranking, and then going to a single elimination format to leave us with 1 undefeated.

Swiss - 1: Greyjoy/Lion - Win. Fun game with jokes about how mean Lannister is.

2: Greyjoy/Lion - Loss. Very quick loss. By the end of first turn he had Pyke, Jaime, Balon (pretty sure it was Balon) and 2 save locations, plus a Risen in his hand.

3: Stark Fealty - Win. Early Milk on Cat and Arya. My opponent wasn't getting much in the way of useful draws and showed me at the end of the game the two Frozen Solid he had in hand for much of the game, we had a laugh about how I kept missing them during intrigue claim.

Single Elim: 1: Stark Fealty - Win. Same opponent as the last game of Swiss. Better on the draws for him, but it started out a little lopsided when I got to go first and had a Treachery in hand for his Kingsroad.

2: Greyjoy Fealty - Win. My opponent was undefeated at this point. No Pyke, but he was still getting unopposed challenges through with Asha, and Theon.

Final: Bara/Lion - Win. My opponent saw a lot of Lion, but not a lot of Bara. He got a PTTS through on Mirri a turn after I used Close Call to get another Jaime out. He'd kept her out of the game up until that point with Filthy Accusation.

Changes - I'd pull the Crones. They got used maybe once the entire day, and I am not even certain of that. I'd probably trade out Wardens for a Wildfire too. Maybe take the idea from the Gen Con winner of using Mance.
