Updates following my own findings along with some discussion with @bored2excess
here: https://thronesdb.com/decklist/view/6549/lanni-crossing-harrenhal-jumpers-2.0#6141
Major changes
- Big reshuffling of characters: 1x of most other Lannister uniques, 1x Bronn, Grand Maester Pycelle, Ser Jaime Lannister (Core) & Cersei Lannister (Core) down to 2x.
- Added 2x Crossroads Sellsword, could be tempted by 3x for the obvious Harrenhal chump-defend for gold synergy.
- Dropped 1x The Kingsroad and 1x Shadowblack Lane to reduce overall location numbers, and avoid being sat on dupes I can't use, respectively.
Other thoughts
Janos Slynt & Ser Ilyn Payne are both currently at 1x, but I could also be tempted to bump them to 2x, due to strong synergy with Tower of the Hand & significant board impact when their abilities trigger.
The other main characters for getting good usage out of Tower I either want to keep on the board: Tywin Lannister (Core), Tyrion Lannister (Core), Ser Jaime Lannister (Core), or aren't high enough cost to really hurt that hard (Cersei Lannister (Core), Grand Maester Pycelle, Shae)
Deck now sitting on a much more healthy 61.

The Long Winter is there as it's 2 claim, it's much easier to justify Hear Me Roar and INBAMF if they can potentially win you a 2 claim challenge. I'm not 100% whether The Long Winter is the correct choice yet, as the 4 card reserve hurts, The Winds of Winter is the other choice |
Tried the deck out with some friends today. Its great fun. Im going to try taking bronn out for see ilyn or something high cost for more tower of the hand synergy. I just didn't have the gold spare for bronn really in my games. Will definitely keep testing. I love the idea of the deck. |
I will agree with your Ilyn argument though, I ran this deck through 5 games last night and it was very successful. I definitely want more Ilyn's though, he helps the deck in a number of ways: He's a very good target for Tower of the Hand (Jaime & Tywin I want to keep on the board for abilities & renown, and Tyrion only returns 4 costers to hand). Ilyn helps me keep the board state low normally, and synergises well with things I do for love (Ilyn chops the 2-3 costers, I TIDFL the 1 costers back to hand). Updated deck is here: thronesdb.com |
Didnt play him in marshalling but having him out meant i had to use gold i would need for the challenges phase for the events which seemed bad. Ilyn like you say solves a lot of the issues and using tower of the hand to send back 5 costers is huge. Removing asha/theon would be huge in a greyjoy game for example. Looking to the lanni box. Would you consider changing the deck to include clansman cards or not bother as some of the effects dont synergise well with the style we want to play with. |
TL;DR I would replace a couple of the generics in this deck with some of the uniques in the box. I do think that Harrenhal likely has a space in the Clansman deck, but I think the jumpers deck is a little different to the Clansman deck |
I played this without tears (i forgett) and treachery ist must have in lannister. Olenna attacked my int. challange, my Tywin jupmed from Harrenhall, (win int), and back Tower of The Hand. Randyll with 3 power must go back to hand. Very funny :) Good deck. My favorites. My change: 1x Ser Gregor Clegance - 1x Ser Kevan Lannister, 1x Trading with the Pentoshi - 1x A noble Cause 1x Wardens of The West - 1x Confiscation (In my city people always play milk), 2x The Things I Do For Love - 2x Treachery, 2x Put to the Sword - 2x Trial by Combat, 2x Tears and 1x I Never Bet Against My Family - 3x Daring Rescue. |
I agree with getting Ser Kevan Lannister in, as he synergises well with Tower of the Hand and I've got Rattleshirt's Raiders in future versions of the deck. I think with Last Hearth Scouts and Captain's Daughter's becoming part of the meta, Treachery is a great shout. I also want to try out Daring Rescue. |
Can you explain why The Long Winter is in your list? I'm curious what the thought behind it was. Will give the deck a try myself. Looks interesting.
