Bronze 60
This was a small turn-out tournament of either 7 or 9 players. I don't recall the exact number, other than there was a bye in the rounds so I cannot be sure that it was an odd amount.
I had only played this a handful of times in preparation (perhaps only once) before the weekend and found it entertaining and a nice break from the Targaryen that I am slowly pulling away from for the time being. I don't believe that it is an amazing build, but it was entertaining to play and I was having fun with.
We only did 3 rounds with a cut to the top 2. The final match ended up being a re-match with one of my favored opponents (well played Mark, could have gone either way) that I have run across and they were both good games.
A quick coverage of the tournament deck in general:
Naval Superiority was a huge swing in each and every game that was played and I thought it was an excellent plot card in the day. The double A Clash of Kings was always putting pressure on and it provided me with an excellent initiative order to put me in a place that I wanted to be defensively. Marched to the Wall did not do me much throughout the day, but it was a good gold init plot.
Old Bear Mormont was a great threat card for the deck in Fealty. For the most part, he took a lot of heat but didn't get to do much. He was always the target of kneel or icon stripping. So he legitimately hit the table almost every match but didn't get to do anything the entire time except in one game. But, someone has to take the heat and it's not terrible if it's him. His proc for a free card never fired once all tournament.
Being able to put a Messenger Raven out every turn for free felt really good.
Ser Alliser Thorne was meh, but having extra icons against an icon stripping meta was nice defensively in one of the games that I managed to bring him to the table. On that note, the Practice Blade was a bit more impressive that I was initially giving it credit. It was actually the cause of my win in the finals and it helped me in other minor situations.
I thought I would try Take the Black in loyalty. I saw it several times in the games, but it rarely had targets. I would take those out in another build. It was fun to in one game Take the Black on a Tumblestone Knight that was equipped with Ice. And then after thinking about the interaction of what this caused had me raising an eyebrow on how it should function with their attachment. Definitely will take this card out though.
It was an entertaining tournament, and although I probably won't stick with Nightswatch going forward for another, I will probably play this for fun every once in a while. With maybe another Old Forest Hunter and perhaps a single Jon Snow to bring up the character count further in my advantage.
