The Arbor is a crucial part of the game plan. Getting the high level of economy going early makes the deck run much smoother. Use Jousting Contest to isolate challenges to make it easier to get larger characters through. Once there are enough knights out on the board throw them all in with A Tourney for the King.
If the Arbor is so crucial shouldn't the deck be running Building Orders to dig for it? It feels that would be a big boon.
