My version of Tathagata's now legendary "Black Flowers" deck. A defensive power rush deck that combines the economy of Tyrell with NW ranger/location shenanigans.

Randyll, Margery and Left & Right are the stars of the show. The deck heavily favours power challenges and has everything it needs to reliably win them. It also has several ways to get extra power through multiple Renown, the Wall, Support of the People and domination. The Rangers with Benjen prevent Stealth challenges from going through, with a little help from the Rose Road Patrol (who should always have Stealth thanks to Margery/Hearstbane buffs). Veteran Builders are on hand to make sure the Wall can stand back up if you do happen to lose an unopposed challenges (say, to something like Fishwhiskers/Winter).

Although there is a load of high cost locations, this deck has economy coming out the wazoo so it shouldn't matter. Support of the People is there for a little extra help. I chose the Mander over Highgarden for draw, but that's preference.

The main weakness here are low initiative and a susceptibility Targ burn (though Margery helps with this a little bit). You generally want to be going second, but you won't really be in control of this.

Enjoy!

Looks really cool. I may have a go with it next week. As an unfortunate side note Heartsbane timing means it will not interact with Roseroad Patrol in a meaningful way.

Thanks for your comment James! I've since tweaked this deck:

  • A Noble Cause is gone, it's just not needed. No Economy problems whatsoever here. You can use whatever plot you like instead, I've got Wildfire for killing Benjen at 13 power ;) cheeky!

  • Seal and 1 x Heartsbane are gone, and have been swapped for 2 x Growing Strong.

  • The Garden Caretakers are gone. The Economy is so insane here, you don't need them. Likewise, Waymer Royce has been cut. Instead, I've put in 2 x Varys and 1 x Syrio.

  • I swapped 1 x Mander for 1 x Highgarden. Since you can fairly reliably get support of the people off, it gives you more choice when it comes to finding the location you need.
