Fruggles 106

This is my Lannister-flavored version of "Splash Mirri, kill shit, win games." Decks. It's like when Nymeria was dominating the meta. She's just that good.

I've found this is a more 'resilient' version of the deck than my regional-topping Greyjoy/Dragon deck, which suffered some from bad/no draws or initial chudflood. Lannister's money makes up for a lot of the struggles of that greyjoy deck, and allows me to easily take the hit to my plot deck that is Counting Coppers.

You almost always start with Wardens of the West for a couple of reasons:

  • Resistant to Naval.
  • Initiative (Over Noble, for instance. Beats out the oft-seen Summer-plot openers)
  • Versatility (Threatens hand heavily - 'telegraphs' your opening play, but that fact forces opponent to over-commit, thus opens up other targets for you. Also Mirri... :D)

Otherwise, if you're sure they're not running Naval, Noble is acceptable if you have Jamie/Tyrion/Tywin to drop onto board with another/two big dudes/dudettes and set you up for a following-turn Wardens/etc. I would say the plot deck is the one weakness of the deck, as there aren't an exceptional number of "effect" - or 'aggressive' plots, as I think of them - that directly help you win the game by targeting oppo/characters/etc. So you really have to win in challenges and with the stuff you have on-board.

Notable interactions/Things:

  • Mirri on Wardens turn = 2 claim intrigue + tears + targeted kill. LOL.
  • Cersei on Wardens Turn = 2 claim + 2 kill (TrialBy)
  • Wildling Scouts there for stealth on Mirri/Renown/Cersei (in that order) more than anything. Use accordingly.
  • Braided Warriors similarly there for Crone triggers. Use accordingly.
  • It's OK to lose Bronn if you've got the tricks in your hand. He's there to drain oppo economy. Take him back next turn.
  • The event spread is 'abnormal' (TIDFL + sword/tear composition) because of the heavy intrigue focus of the deck - i.e. TIDFL mega helpful for Cersei+trial turns.

Changes to Consider (meta-based, largely): Milk/Wail numbers; Tears/Sword/Trial numbers; Illyrio/Mirri 2-2 or 1-3 split;

Not a tournament-winning deck (yet ;) or anything, so I'll leave it at that, no lengthy write-up today, but feel free to question/suggest and I'll try and respond!

Cheers, Frugs
