Hello, this is the Fealty Targaryen deck I played to win a local regional in Montana. Generally it is basic Targ Fealty, but I believe what set this apart was the differences I made to the plot deck. Our regional only had 16 people attend so is not as large a sample size as some of the other regionals, but I did end up undefeated through 4 rounds (1 of which I had a bye from the store championship) and 3 rounds of top 8.
Interestingly I didn't draw a Daenerys Targaryen all day but had Khal Drogo almost every game and of course he is amazing. The night before the event I traded out 2 Braided Warrior for the 2 Unsullied, to help with snows and be a little more offensive, and I also added a Syrio Forel for my 3rd copy of The Hand's Judgment. I felt the second change was risky but it totally paid off as Syrio probably was the single biggest reason I won the final game. Most people will look at this list and say "Dude Put to the Sword" I thought about that card a lot, here is a list of reasons I didn't put it in: 1-I found that when I had gold left over people were always playing around put to the sword which meant I already had to be in a pretty good position to get one through. (essentially it felt like a win more card). 2-People expect it to be in Targ kill decks so the threat of it had way more value than actually putting it in the deck would have. Often I would have money leftover and events that I could play with Fealty, I constantly made sure I was attacking with at least 5 total str so they couldn't just let anything through. 3- Between all the other cards I wanted to run I was already at 15 neutral cards, had plenty of what I think is better kill cards and effects, and in play testing found that these were just generally not getting played enough to justify the deck slot.
The other big change I went with was the plot deck, I found Filthy Accusations to be way more useful for me than Marched to the Wall. And I believe in this deck Weapons at the Door was way worth the 1 gold difference from Confiscation.
If you have any questions about the deck or what I'm running let me know.
Thanks for checking it out.

Through the day and playing some at our local game night after the set ups have been pretty solid. I've been really happy with the consistency through about 15 games. I agree on paper that the characters are expensive and there are lots of utility plots with low gold values, but as I play this problem has not really come up. Trading with the Pentoshi seems to be in every deck, mine seems to help me a bunch, and I usually make good use of the 3 gold when my opponents play it. Thanks for the advice, I will look at the summer plots and see if there is something to change out. I've been finding that Wildfire Assault is supposed to help me if I get behind but I just usually never end up playing it, and it hurts me more than them through the games I've played so far. Perhaps a larger gold plot can go there. |
The gold curve seems too tight to afford buying some personalities. It might be useful to modify the plot-line accordingly, maybe with more than one "summer" plot. With so many events how are the set ups? Anyway the deck seems fun to play ;)
