I took this deck to a 13 player tournament in Norwich, UK and placed 1st. On the day it went 5-1 losing to a Greyjoy Stag deck in the first round and later beating the same deck during the top four cut.
Keeping the amount of high cost characters to a minimum was important to me hence the omission of Daenerys Targaryen, I also wanted to keep the number of unique characters to a minimum so using the dragons was unappealing meaning Dracarys! was not an option.
I included plenty of cheap claim soak to give a good set-up and prevent my opponents from accumulating too much power through unopposed challenges.
I did not include Illyrio’s Estate or Rose Garden to avoid having too many limited cards on set-up and did not find economy to be a problem.
Bannering to the Rose and using Randyll Tarly along with The Knight of Flowers and Khal Drogo gives 3 characters with renown and not counting Ser Jorah Mormont, allowing a large amount of power to be gained quickly while putting pressure on your opponents board state.
Margaery Tyrell is great for landing Put to the Sword as well as standing Randyll Tarly.
Plaza of Punishment is great for killing low strength characters in order to force more valuable characters to be killed as claim during military challenges.
Having such a strong military and power presence leaves a lack of intrigue icons and as Margaery Tyrell is mostly used to boost strength the problem is exasperated. Tears of Lys can be a problem due to a large amount of power is collected on the characters themselves (none of which have an intrigue icon), therefore using Put to the Sword to take care of your opponents higher strength intrigue characters is a good idea, especially later in the game.
