First draft. I basically threw all the "remove from challenge" effects together. Anyone else have experience with this type of deck? I've seen something similar in Melee but what about joust?
Hello scantrell24,
I did build challenge removal deck for Joust when Streets of King's Landing was released. Originally I had HRD Highgarden, but in the end, because of Frozen solid and Seized by the Guard being very popular in Qohor decks, I have chosen to go Tyrell with banner Night Watch and Qohor.
I have written a bit about it in the following, although longer than wanted, paragraphs.
I used Pentoshi as opener. Then either alternative opener Time of plenty or if i had good removal board/hand to play went straight for 2x Jousting Contest followed by V, Dohaeris. As 6th plot I was alternating between Uneasy Truce and Wildifre Assault. 7th plot was Confiscation.
The offensive version I did build had one small issue as the most ( in my opinion ) effective challenge removals like Highgarden and Offer of a Peach require attacking character somewhat forcing the deck to be a bit more defensive. That said, when I have started to build the deck more defensively, barely any challenge went through from plot 2 to 5 and my deck evolution went to gaining power with renowns 90% times on defense and Wall/Oldtown.
If I may suggest, I had used Leyton HIghtower to play nearly 50% of my deck (especially Scheming Septon ) and would use now considering new cards like Shrewd diplomat you have in the list. I figured somewhere during the testing that in my case Margery Tyrell HoT was highly effective in picking up big guys ( as both 1st and 2nd player ), allowing a small chud or renown character to go through on different challenge possibly unopposed. And I could put her into play with Leyton and stand her with Highgarden Courtier and Renly's Pavilion and/or in my case Arbor Queen. As I said, I have chosen banner NW and I used their attachments to help with defense like combination Scheming septon + Catapult ( although 5g to play, I never regreted ) or Flea bottom + Veteran Builder on Highgarden.
That would be just a bit of my experience with my version of challenge removal, but its 3 chapter packs outdated. Nowadays I am interested to try building challenge removal with Shadow agenda to have more suprising on demand removals.
Best regards,
Ali
