Magnus 527
The Superior Beggar King
Hey! I want to publish my little creation for Italian Nationals 2025 to both share the deck, but mostly to praise the work of Hida Suka to gather and host this beautiful tournament for us! Thank you so much for having us! Really hope the Italian meta can keep on having tourneys like this <3
- So, the idea of the deck:
I knew I'd be immensely tired from travelling, beer and good food - so I would need something straight forward that I could play blindly to have a good time during the tourney. I'm never staying for long with one deck/faction as I easily get bored, but since I've played soooo many games with Targ in the World Cup lately, it was an easy choice for this tourney as my focus was more on the social aspect than the game :)
- What I want to do:
This is a simple 2 claim aggro deck with a cheeky opener. I open Naval every single game. If I have Sckhahsahaszasdahaahn, I'll end up with a crazy amount of gold with the Aloof trigger as well. After that, 2 claim plots to either me or the opponent run out of steam. You also got a good amount of gold round 2 if you play Summer Harvest, but usually its more worth it to just aggro through!
- Key cards:
Naval Superiority, its high initiative, got a great ability and enough gold with the agenda to be able to marshal a big. What more do you need? Other than that, everything with a :D Small mention for the new guy. 2 gold for a character with 4(!!!) str and icon... Red Lamb was an easy last minute include.
-
Cards which arent worth it: I basically played all my cards, but The Skahazadhan is by far the worst card in the deck. Yes - it can give you an insane start if its there on setup. But even then, I might only trigger it first round. I believe the deck would be more stable if I ran 3x Great Hall (R) instead.
-
My games:
Round 1: Francesco Folladori Night's Watch – The Prince That Was Promised. I chatted a lot after my World Cup game with Francesco Folladori and I hoped to meet him in Italy, so it was destined to happen! I really like his deck for World Cup, so I had a slight advantage on him since I'd played plenty of games with it myself as well. I got the best start possible, wiping his board first few rounds without Francesco being able to establish him on the board. Win
Round 2: Xelcor Lannister – The Many-Faced God. Two aggro decks faced each other. I believe me getting initative ended up with being key here. Not sure how long we played, but we both had boards all game except the final round where I got the edge. Win
Round 3: Sara Stark – The Many-Faced God. A scrappy game with mistakes on both sides. I didn't see my mistake before it was too late. I believe I killed Lady (TtB) 53719137138479 times in this game :D I should prolly have slowed down and focused less on killing (boring!!!). But Sara played it cool and managed to keep a solid board throughout the game. Well deserved win for her. Loss
Round 4: Dennis Stark – The Lord of the Crossing. Killing Dennis with some burn events is always fun! :D I had some burn events, so this game was over round 3 with Dennis not being able to populate the board. Win
Round 5 + Quarter Finals: Alex Tyrell – Uniting the Realm. Haha, was looking forward to playing Alex! Alex trying to deck me, while I try to kill everything... We played for two hours (we were paired again for the quarter finals as well). Not much to say about the games other than I drew too many cards in both the games and Alex managed to somehow keep me from winning it on power. Loss & Win
Semifinal: Hida Suka Greyjoy – Fealty. Our gracious host got a terrible setup, but drew very well from that. I got a decent setup, but Nothing Burns Like The Cold removed my econ in form of The Skahazadhan, and I believe he found all 3 Drowned God Fanatic (R) to stop the small things I actually could do, but this was the first game I really was missing my econ. He deservedly won and got his spot in the finals!
So that ended my run in the tourney. I've not seen a SoS score this sick anywhere though :D Everyone I played ended 8th or better in the tourney.
Again, thank you so much for hosting this tourney and awesome to play against all my opponents in this tourney. You all are awesome :)
Hope some get enjoyment from the deck <3

Just noticing how insane your SoS was! This definitely shows a huge potential in this deck and its driver too. It was a pleasure having you with us, thanks for coming all the way from Norway! If the event was a success is definitely thanks to you guys who believed in us and made the effort to join. See you next year! |
In that match I felt like losing since the first second. My brain was going full speed (I had drank half a liter of coffe and one full liter of monsters the previous hours). Thank you for coming and looking back organizing this next year! |
Congrats mate for the result and thanks for coming to see us! I will have my revenge sooner or later 😉
