I'm still pretty new to Thrones, and I've mostly been netdecking so I can try out some different builds and learn the game mechanics. This is the second deck I've built for myself, which I took to a store championship over the weekend. I chose Martell/Lion since my friend was bringing Lannister/Sun. Since I'm still pretty new to deckbuilding, I'll appreciate anyone's perspective they want to add.
I wasn't expecting to win, but 1-4 was a little disappointing since I am normally at least a .500 player in my local meta.
Matchups:
Rd1: Lost to Lanni/Rose. Couldn't draw an answer to Tywin late game.
Rd2: Win vs ?? (sorry, it's eluding me). The Red Viper, duped early, with Dawn and Seal of the Hand pushed through a close win at plot 7
Rd3: 3-4 round loss to Greyjoy Fealty. Managed to A Game of Thrones a Sneak Attack and Calm Over Westeros a Naval Superiority, but it didn't matter - couldn't find a Milk for Balon, and he pushed through too many unopposed challenges. Encapped with GJ plot.
Rd4: Lost vs Baratheon/Watch. Got rid of Melisandre early, but I needed to pressure him more and was always stuck with an inferior board state. The slow grind of the game left him with the W.
Rd5: Lost vs Night's Watch/Kraken. This was an interesting NW deck because it was aggressive, not defensive. I didn't draw into any economy, and he had extreme card advantage from Messenger Raven. Tipping point may have been when he Naval Superiority my Calling the Banners, which still gave me enough gold to play but not enough to drop Viper, Jaime or any of the other bombs I was sitting on.
Anyway, figured I'd see what the internet thinks. Thanks for any constructive criticism you can offer!
I can't tell you what's definitely going to win and what won't. What I can do is aks you a few questions. First, how do you want this deck to win? Is it to stall until turn 5, 6, 7 and then to Doran's Game? Is it to control your opponent with Icon control? Is it to Aggro with Put to the Sword and Jaime? I'm seeing a lot of different ways that things could work, and it might be helpful to focus on one aspect a little bit more, and see if that works. So maybe you could go with more Mil icons and have more Put to the Sword and other Aggro stuff instead of Tears. Or go with more control and focus on getting rid of Int icons so that you can Tears people.
Going along with that, what worked and what didn't when you played? I'm hearing a lot of "I start off well on the first few turns, but then they get ahead and I can never catch back up." Depending on what direction you want to go, you may want to consider either A) Wildfire (especially if you go a more Military direction) B) Varys (if you go a more control direction, although could work with Aggro too) or C) Going even more in on the Martell "If you win I win" theme.
Tl;Dr It looks like it might be helpful to focus your deck a little bit more. What do you want to focus it on?
