Rules FAQ

  • When determining the value of X, count cards with gold controlled by all players.

  • The gold in a player's gold pool is not considered to be on any card, even if a player places it there for convenience (for instance, on their revealed plot card).

  • The printed value of X is considered to be 0. That means Ashemark Councilor is an eligible target for something like Venomous Blade, regardless of its STR.

  • Apart from only being able to choose cards without gold, there are no targeting restrictions on Ashemark Councilor. That means you can choose any card in play, including a faction card, a revealed plot card, a duplicate, etc.

  • If Blood of the Dragon is revealed, Ashemark Councilor will die before it can trigger its reaction if there are no cards with gold already in play. On the other hand, if there are already some cards with gold in play, X will be higher than 0 immediately upon Ashemark Councilor entering play, so it will survive.
