Since it was a melee tournament (7 player), its a lot about politics, diplomacy and whining :) And not THAT much about the deck. We had 4 rounds, 4 player table and 3 player table, with rotation based on results. Won 3 player table match, then was second in a 4 player table, last in a 4 player table and then won at 4 player table.
Was eager to include some of the cards from No Middle Ground. Overall, this deck was really fun to play, some thoughts/adjustments that I would consider would be:
- Drop out Left and Right, due to luck these guys did not get marshalled much and when they were, they did not impact the game much.
- Ser Horas Redwyne, I was sceptical about including him, but he was really very good. Wining challenges with The Queen of Thorns, marshalling Horas, kneeling him and standing Queen was sweet. So I'd definitely include at least 2 copies of him, if not more.
- Throughout all the games I was struggling with economy of the deck, eventhough it looks pretty promising, I did not play The Arbor, due to not having enough spare money, and marshalling some Characters at that time was of higher priority. 4 cost location is rather expensive in a rush deck, so not sure it was the right choice to play it.
- I have a friend that's really into the Pleasure Barge thing, I must admit it's nice, but even that -1 gold did influence my gameplay a lot, therefore I did wish I had 3x of The Roseroad in my deck during majority of my games. Perhaps it would have been different if I had played The Arbor.
- Not sure Counting Coppers was all that useful since I played Pleasure Barge, so I'd think I would replace it with Calm Over Westeros.
- 2x of A Tourney for the King is amazing. Playing it one after the other allowed me to jump from fourth place to second in one match. I definitely think it was the right thing. Play your economy plots to get you set up and on 3th or 4th or 5th turn start playing Tourneys.
- Trading with the Pentoshi, can't decide about this card really. Played it the first plot in a 3 player game and it really helped. Playing it first in a 4 player game, and seeing that one of the opponents played it too was crazy. Not surprisingly one of the opponents played Varys next turn to normalise the board. So I'd say that this plot is too situational and I'm not sure it should be included in the deck where you seek consistency.
So much thoughts, hope you find some useful information :) Thanks for reading.
