Korppi 9

There were 20 players and 5 rounds of swiss and cut to top 8. I went 3-2 on swiss and lost in top 4.

First game against Martell/Lion, I didn't get enough winterproof characters or dublicates so First snow came and left me in a bad board position from which I failed to recover fast enough. Ghaston Grey was annoying too. (Loss)

Second one against Tyrell/bara, where I got around 5 chars and some dublicates on setup and marshalling, which forced my opponent to play and trigger Varys. He could'nt recover fast enough. (Win)

Third against Stark Fealty. He got some nice (5-6) characters on the board on first turn including Catelyn and Bran so luckily I drew Varys with Littlefinger (second card!) and whiped the board. I got unopposed challenges almost every round so it was very much over for him. (Win)

Fourth game against Martell/Lion. I don't really remember much about this one, but I was expecting First snow and my opponent had Sunspear from turn 1 so I played carefully and managed to win the match. (Win)

Fifth against Lannister/Dragon. I believe I did'nt see Mirri at all, but Hound came back and forth with Tyrion's help, stuff got Tears'd and Knight of Flowers's Bodyguard Treachery'd and First snow was there too. Ugh. (Loss)

Top 8 was against undefeatable 5-0 swiss Stark Fealty. On first turn Littlefinger was Heads on Spiked, the second turn Spike missed KoF luckily! I was able to get stuff on the board constantly and managed to overrun afterall. I got many unopposed here too. (Win)

Top 4 against Lanni/Kraken. It was a tough game! I did atleast 1 mistake: I had Paxter and 1 gold on the board, Growing Strong and HJ on hand. My opponent attacked with and got money from Tyrion. I was expecting Tears + I didn't want to lose my cards so I played Growing Strong and won as a defender. He atked with Asha and Tickler next, stealthed my only and played Put to the Sword on Littlefinger. He could have taken the HJ as a int claim but still. It was rough. Time went out on 6th plot, my opponent went first and managed to get to 14 power, I got only a successful UO on which got me to 13 power. Or maybe he got to 14 by dominance win, can't recall exactly.

Some things and thoughts from the day:

I triggered Varys only once during the day. It was on a turn 1 against my first Stark and it really helped me to win the game.

Tears of Lys is a great card! It can get easily triggered with Arbor Knight with Mare in Heat for example. Even though against Banner of the i forgot to kill Unsullied... but managed to kill things like Nymeria Sand against Banner of the .

I failed to use Put to the Sword entirely so I think they will get changed to 3rd The Hand's Judgment (Tears of Lys is a pain in the ass) and maybe for Superior Claim or Nightmares.

I took a risk for not to run basicly any attachment control at all. Pulling the Strings can maybe/might/could/would get Confiscation sometimes... not this time though.

I think like almost in every game my opponent had a milk in their hand on turn 1 for my big guys and it sucked, but i still managed to do pretty well I think. Plots are pretty tight, but maybe A Clash of Kings could be Confiscation. I'm not sure what to cut for Rattleshirt's Raiders if I wanted to go that way.

Even though I did not have time to train with this deck very much (not against a single Stark or Martell for example) I'm very happy with the results. My goal was to get in top 8 to get the nice Stark playmat, wooden Stark housecard for top 4 was a big bonus!

Someday there will be a day when Tyrell wins the only game that matters.

Awesome deck! One of our SCs was taken down by a Tyrell Crossing deck. It knocked me out of the cut, too. ;)
