FriendlyOpen 914

Hi folks. :)

This is the deck we built in Episode 10 of The Friendly Council, our new video series about deckbuilding. This is a new Friendly Open project, aimed at helping beginner and intermediate-level players build their own decks.

This time we examine the Mercenary theme in House Targaryen. This deck is all about tempo plays, often getting strong characters on the board without really paying for them. It probably takes a bit of practice to get it right, but hopefully this episode proves to be of value to anyone looking to play a deck like this one. If that includes you, check out the video below.

As always, any comments or suggestions are more than welcome. :)

Quick note:

A restricted list (RL) will happen in a couple of days from now, so we will leave some notes here in the comments or create another version, if needed.

Enjoy!

I guess now Shagwell makes room for something like Missandei, Belwas or Septa Lemore.

I will let mak answer that one, but yes, Missandei seems like a good call. Shagwell isn't as important here as he is in A Mummer's Farce decks. He just gets some keywords for himself. I think you can take him out and you are still okay. :)

Hi folks,

With the new restricted list v1.7, you can replace 2x Shagwell for 2x Missandei.

As good/fun as Shagwell is, Unbridled Generosity is more important here to feed the other cards in the deck: Vargo Hoat, Tyrion Lannister (JS), Second Sons, Golden Company, Begging Brother, Seized by the Guard, Flea Bottom (R) or The Iron Bank (R).

@Stelios21 yup, good options. Septa Lemore might feel like a dead card sometimes whereas Missandei has now a good place in the deck for a Meereen (R) hit (either discard 1 card or discard your hand) or a Ser Barristan Selmy (FtR) trigger.

@Odrl Absolutely :)
