Hey everyone,

this is the deck that earned me a 2nd place at the Online World championship 26.

Meta Police!

The idea behind the decks is to apply pressure from turn 1, preventing your opponent from executing their gameplan. Its fairly straight forward in that regard.

What made the deck this strong was the combination of a high pressure plotline together with multiple cards that disrupt your opponents plans. Meaning your plotline is a huge part of your game - you shouldn't miss it.

You can use The Mad King's Command to prepare a good Valar Dohaeris if you see some bigs hitting the board. Also it opens the options Marched to the Wall and Strained Reserves. Strained Reserves has become even better with the rise of Loan from the Iron Bank , making it one of the plots you can actively aim for.. Maiden standard opening to win initiative. There will be games when you are able to pressure your opponent in T1 that much, that you won’t even need or want to play MKC. Don’t be scared to leave it as the last plot, often you will be able to win the game before anyway if you managed a good boardwipe.

Some small but important things to keep in mind when playing:

  • Barring the Gates blocks shadows and Targaryen very well, but remember that Meera and she bear also are affected.

  • Bolton Flayer, probably my favorite stark card, but don’t forget he might kill your own arya or meera if you dont pay attention.

  • Ward (R), this is the 62nd card that I was not able to part of, if you want to play 61 cards this is the one to cut. It can be a huge tempo hit for your opponent but remember that it makes Alysane Mormont and Old Gate blank if your not by chance running against stark.

  • Last Hearth Scouts one of the most annoying cards for every deck that plays in challenge shenanigans. Here to its important not to forget that you are affected too, meaning meera enters play knelt and also potential flayers or umber berserkers do.

  • you can march Arya Stark (TFM) to the wall if you expect a VM from your opponent to save bodies with a dupe.

  • Strained Reserves might be the best plot from the last cycle, but rember that she bear takes 2 cards at once and also meera returns to shadows. Events don't count so if you manage a Winter Is Coming on that turn you might wipe the whole board. Also don’t forget 3 reserve ! !

  • lastly Winterfell (WotN). You are not running a full winter plotline so if you trigger it offensively it might block Greatjon Umber, Nightmares and Winter Is Coming.

As mentioned, if you want to play 61 cards cut 1 Ward (R)

If you want 60, also one No Surprises

At first I wanted to do a detailed Game report on each game but I soon realised I mixed some games especially with the first 4 Games beeing 2 times near to identical decks so its just the pairing. Feel free to ask tough.

The following were the Matchups I had:

Round 1 - Rightwaydown Tyrell/Aloof and Apart WIN 1-0

Round 2 - Francis Côte Targaryen/Battle of the Trident WIN 2-0

Round 3 - Francisco Gobantes Tyrell/Aloof and Apart WIN 3-0

Round 4 - Jim Hansen Targaryen/Battle of the Trident Loss 3-1

Round 5 - Francesco Cirili Martell/Knights of the Hollow Hill WIN 4-1

Round 6 - Nijo Night'swatch/The Prince that was Promised WIN 5-1

Top 32 - BYE 6-1

Top 16 - Bobibob19 Stark/Banner of the Kraken WIN 7-1

Top 8 - bplumier Martell/The Many-Faced God WIN 8-1

Top 4 - Areindal Greyjoy/Trading With Braavos WIN 9-1

Final Nijo Night's Watch/ The Prince that was Promised rematch Loss 9-2

Thanks to all my opponents for the games and congratulations to Nijo for winning it in the end ! Well played!

Also, a big thank you to everyone involved in organizing the event and to the GOT committees. The game wouldn’t still be alive without your effort, and it’s really appreciated.

Also the new Deck locking feature was really good and I didn’t notice any issues !

Lastly I want to thank my (FFM meta) friends! Especially Alex (France) for good coaching and opinions on decks I play.

Also thanks to Dominik for some valuable insights on the list and some fun deckcooking :)

And Marcus for introducing me to my first GKN 3 years ago! I wouldn’t have made it this far without you!

If you have any questions, feel free to ask — I’ll do my best to answer them in as much detail as possible :)
