I present a version of my favorite deck which allow me to win quickly several games with few defeats. I precise that i play against novice gamers (like me). Concerning the difference between this version and the most tested concern 2 cards: Pyke and Harmen Uller. Previously, i used Arianne Martell and Sunspear.

The philosophy of this deck is based on "rush" using a control strategy. The house allows to use "loyal" characters (Balon Greyjoy and Euron Crow's Eye) and locations (Great Kraken ans Pyke). These cards offers some possibilities concerning the gain of power tokens to the faction (unopposed challenges, renown,...). The other characters and attachment complete this objective (Asha Greyjoy, Theon Greyjoy and Fishing Net). Concerning The cards, I selected cards which combine offensive and defensive apects. event Confinement and attachments like Attainted are efficient to favorize unopposed challenges and control in defense. The characters are chosen with this logic. For exemple Nymeria Sand are usefull to make unopposed challenge or to block a character. As you can see, Bastard characters are strongly present in this deck, this fact incitated me to include Harmen Uller to reduce the cost of these girls (this advantage is complete by the presence of renown). Finnaly, I choose to include Weapons at the Door because the attachments of this deck can favorise a reboot without losing characters. Other plots are chosen to favorize unopposed challenges reducing the risks in defense (Jousting Contest or Calm Over Westeros, or to marshall (Trading with the Pentoshi or Here to Serve), or to grab a lot of power point (Rise of the Kraken and A Clash of Kings.

Don't hesitate to give some advice. I'm looking for some changes concerning the possibility to defend/control the game against some events (like Dracarys). I wonder if Ahead of the Tide cannot be changed by His Viper Eyes. The objective of the first card is to obtain the initiative for "free" (the initiative gives the right to draw one card), but it didn't protect from some events or attachments. Having His Viper Eyes in the deck could be a maneer to increase the control, excluding some embarrassing cards at the beginning of the game. Furthermore, my deck is based on a rush strategy with stealth, so it means:

  • if I'm the first player, a few amount of opposing characters will be knelt.
  • If I'm not the first player; I will need to "punish" the opposant.

My second thinking concerns the pertinence of Harmen Uller. I chose to put this card instead of Arianne Martell. Arianne Martell was chosen at the beginning because of the possibility to use Arianne Martell in defense/attack without reducing the possibility to rush (using the power of the card). The change of this card was based on the idea that it was possible to use renown with Harmen Uller to gain some power tokens, completed with the possibility to use ambush "X-1".

So, I'm waiting for your comments!

having not play tested this one of the big things that jumps out at me is plot deck. You have 3 plots that are 3 gold or less and 2 that are 4 gold. IMO since you are running Clash of kings as your closer you could probably run another gold giving plot like noble cause or perhaps calling the banners (better choice to keep high initiative) in stead of Rise of the Kraken.

One other note Iron mines is just a good location period and ahead of the tide is just ok especially again you are running high initiative plots so I think I would just drop those for iron mines or drop Sunspear as you are trying hard to go first.

Thank you for your advice.

Concerning the plots, I understand what you mean about the amount of gold but thought that Here to Serve could be considered as a plot of "6". This plot allow me to recruit a character of 3 (like Maester Caleotte) from the deck (it's comparable to a draw). Why did you consider it as a "few gold" plot?
But i can imagine to change Jousting contest for a "6 golds" plot. You propose me to take the classical Calling the Banners or A Noble Cause, i consider it as a good idea (especially the first one for the initiative), but what do you think about Supporting the Faith? A weakness of my deck concerns the opposition to the events with a cost higher than 1.
Your last advice about plot was about Rise of the Kraken, you are not the fisrt person to tell me that but I'm really surprised and I imagine that is due to a lack of experience against skilled gamers. Concerning this plot, I won sereval times using it as a game ender (it's possible to grab 10 points with Great Kraken). Instinctively, I will keep this one against A Clash of Kings. Do you really think that is a bad idea to keep it or it's a just a question of "plot balance"?

Finally, I completely agree with you about Iron Mines. In fact, I was looking for a strategy against some events like Dracarys! or Even-Handed Justice but i think it's not possible to prevent everything. The previous proposal of Supporting the Faith was made for that.

Thank you very much.
