There is nothing more to say about the Martells this time around. The deck aims for hard control of the board state with the two Spearmaidens, Tyene Sand, and two Tears of Lys. The The First Snow of Winter and Wildfire Assault keeps the board small to raise the effectiveness of Vengeance for Elia and the targeted kill cards. Since I cannot find space for the Rattleshirt's Raiders and I believe that Confiscation is not enough of an attachment control, I have decided to focus on building up my board and fighting through the pain of not having the characters who are either attached with Milk of the Poppy, the Martell negative attachments, and of course, the Craven. The cards that push the power gain of this deck comes from The Red Viper, the three Knights of the Sun and Doran's Game.

Swiss Record:

  • Round 1 against Targ Fealty (Loss)
  • Round 2 against Baratheon Fealty (Win)
  • Round 3 against Tyrell KoS (Win)
  • Round 4 against Targ Fealty (Win)

Top Cut:

  • Top 4 match against Greyjoy KoS (Loss)

If you have any questions regarding my (weird??) choice of cards, please ask away. :)

I see there was no Stark matchup, but how would you handle Catelyn Stark (Core) and Winterfell?

Loras Tyrell 316

Attaintedm, Nymera and all those winter plots will do ;)

Gatilleon 105

@Loras Tyrell is actually right. Usually two winter plots are enough to get through Winterfelll and whenever you have the Spearmaidens and Tyene Sand on the board in a non-Winter plot turn, Winterfell is can't block both targeted kill threats, @NikolaP

For the future of this deck, I might consider -1 Close Call and +1 Confiscation just to have some attachment control back.

Nice balance. Cant wait to give it a try

Can i get an explanation for Ranger's Cache? I like the feel of almost everything else but this doesnt seem to fit to me. Is it a tech choice for Varys's Riddle as opposed to Counting Coppers? Or is it because of the winter trait?

JxM 40

@agerjagVarys's Riddle triggers only the "when revealed" part. There's none on Ranger's Cache.

@JxM I know thats why it could be a tech choice for going against it.

@agerjag Ranger's Cache is just a waiting plot that I usually play for plot 3 and I consider this plot to be a very strong substitute for The Long Plan. This Martell deck waits out the opponent since most of the effects of my cards are really strong late game like the renown from the Knights of the Sun, Doran Martell's STR boost for the The Red Viper and other nobles, and of course, my ultimate tech card Doran's Game.

The upsides of using the plot is that I can get some draw if I need it and most of the time I'm hoping to get Doran's Game at this point if I haven't got it yet. I can also have gold if I'm planning to do a The First Snow of Winter round. The winter trait is amazing against Starks.

@agerjagThe inclusion of the Varys's Riddle is more of a meta call for me since it was expected that we will be seeing a lot of Targs in our field. Varys's Riddle is the only known counter to Summer Harvest and the Targs love it that's why I played. When I didn't encounter Kings of Summer agendas, Varys's still holds strong since you can play it as a second plot to catch those sneaky Filthy Accusations by the Baratheons, Summons, and even Confiscation if you time it right.

Besides all of the things I've already said, Varys's Riddle is a solid 5-gold plot with high initiative (good for going second), and a high reserve. Most of the time, you can almost always never go wrong by playing this plot.

@Swinstar Thanks, do you have any suggestions or changes you'd like to make?
